Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday October 5th

Race 2

(6) Count Nicholas has had a look at Flemington and Sandown recently in jumpouts where he matched it with some quality horses. From barrier one he should be able to get a nice sit for Blake Shinn and it seems Anthony & Sam Freedman have him ready for his first race. Obviously, the market will be telling but the son of Toronado x Circus Polka has had enough trial experience and should put his best hoof forward in this one.

(7) Dakarai has a wide barrier for Damien Oliver (15) but is a pacy tape so he should get over. Oliver sticks with him after a sound fourth at Sandown Hillside three weeks ago where he was second for most of the race before getting a little tired over the concluding stages. That was over 1300m and he goes back to the 1100m in this race.

(9) Hurricane Thunder is a first starter out of Russian Revolution x Moretti and comes into this race pretty fresh given his last jumpout was on September 9 and his previous two were in April. For Team Hawkes, he must be considered.

(12) Astelena will go back early from barrier 16 and will be running on late.

(6) Count Nicholas WIN

$3.90 (2 Units)

Race 5

(5) Notabadbuy for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott gets the inside barrier for Craig Newitt. The four-year-old gelding is second up after a nice win at Geelong a fortnight ago (Heavy 8) and will enjoy it even more if it rains on Wednesday morning as it is predicted to do. The Geelong win was a good one, winning by 3.25L after leading and if he can get his own way in from again, he will be hard to catch.

(1) Legionnaire ran eight on Soft ground to Bubbly Lass a month ago. Bubbly Lass has since won again.

(6) Rose Dior has won two races at Sale and does handle Soft ground. She has had a consistent campaign for Gavin Bedgood having finished in the top four in all starts.

(7) Dangers is up in distance but did run on well last time. He can handle the Soft ground but is unplaced on the Heavy, so we don't want any downgrade in conditions for this one.

(5) Notabadbuy WIN

$2.30 (3 Units)

Race 7

(8) Wegobam has finished second three times in her last five attempts and gets no better chance for a W with Ollie on here. Ollie rode her two starts ago when she was plain and ran fifth and then Jy McNeil rode her to a second last start. Ollie must have some sort of opinion of her if he's hopping back on. She is unplaced in four attempts on the Soft but that goes well on Good and Heavy ground which is interesting.

(6) Invincible Caviar has to go in for Peter Moody and Luke Nolen. She resumes from a spell but has had two solid jumpouts in readiness for her Spring campaign.

(7) Queen of the Green is untried on Soft ground but is one for one on the Heavy. She stormed home to win at Geelong on September 15 and will want the pace on here.

(5) Extreme Step got there by a nose last time at Pakenham, but this race is harder.

(8) Wegobam Each-Way

$10.00/$3.10 (1 Unit)

Race 8

(14) Hesket is second emergency but i think he will gain a run here. At Mornington he was very good and would have won with another 50m and with more fitness on his side he is a big chance for the Ellerton stable. He goes well in all conditions and has raced against Group horses before so the stable must think highly of him.

(6) Baretta is resuming but has had three trials so should be fit. He does get back so will want them moving along early.

(4) Carlisle ran fifth first up in a harder race than this won by Cardinal Gem. Should go well but one more i reckon.

(3) Yulong Justify has a wide barrier (15) and a big weight (61kg) and will go better in a few weeks.

(14) Heskett WIN

$5 (1 Unit)
