It’s another Wednesday which means some strong metro racing across the country. Sandown will host an eight race card in Melbourne while a drying Randwick Kensington track will see seven races take place across the day.
As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look across all the meetings and has found his best racing tips for the day.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, August 10th
Sandown Race 2
(5) Royal Crown looks well placed here off the back of his big finish behind smart stayer Teewaters last time out. Was one of the few who ate into the margin of the impressive winner and the form out of the race has been strong. In a small field he shoudln’t be giving away too much of a start and expect Mark Zahra will ride him like the best horse in the race.
(3) Wisaka has been in good form and can lead them up from barrier 3. Races well here at Sandown and maybe finding a dry track now could be the key with him.
(8) That’s Incranabull will enjoy getting out to 2400m where he has won before. Was good last start finishing 2nd over the shorter trip and has been building nicely this prep.
(6) Secret Palace is airborne but would probably like it a bit wetter to show her best.
(5) Royal Crown
$3.70 (1 unit)
Sandown Race 4
Keen on the resuming (7) Duchy Of Savoy here who has shown plenty of ability at her eight starts to date. She was a winner first up last prep over 1000m and has trialled up well for her return. She was thrown in the deep end following the maiden win and this looks a much easier assignment. Is a winner this track/trip.
(2) Sugartown is a very frustrating horse to follow but always runs well without winning. Barrier one will suit her on-speed racing style and she’s fourth up now. Added fitness will take her a long way.
(8) The Sisters races very well at this track and was finishing hard here last start. Back on to drier ground will improve her chances and she looks close to another win.
(1) Maddox is super consistent and rarely runs a bad race. A little freshen up will suit and she could make use of the 3kg claim and be tough to run down.
(7) Duchy Of Savoy
$2.50 (2.5 units)
Sandown Race 6
Want to have something on (5) Xtra Gear if running here (is nommed for Sale tomorrow). Horse has jumped out in super order and the stable generally know how to get them firing fresh. She tackled some hot races throughout last prep and looks pretty well placed back to 64 grade. Has the speed to offset the wide barrier and he could find the front and be tough to catch. Update: SCRATCHED
Also going to be backing (4) Queen Adele who is another horse that has jumped out in really good order. Stable have been having a good recent run and she looks a backable enough price. I do think whatever she does here she will improve on however.
(12) Most Impressive was exactly that 2nd up when racing away for a dominant win. She is exciting and looks suited rising again in trip. Moody is pumping out the winners lately, especially his younger horses.
(14) Magic Chloe was a very good winner 2nd up and looks to have come back in top form. Should have won fresh and looks on the improve again 3rd up rising in trip. Toughest test to date however.
(11) Miss Verbier can run a race at a big price.
Value: (4) Queen Adele - $16 (0.25 units)
(5) Xtra Gear (SCR)
$7.50 (1 unit)
Randwick Race 5
(7) Laurelin resumes today and she has trialled up really nicely for her return. She’s been a bit costly to punters but the key for her will be getting a dry track. On her best form she clearly has a lot of talent and she is still very lighty raced. With just four starts to her name maybe we can see the best of her this prep?
(2) Sneaky Paige will be hardest to beat and comes into this in good form. Her 2nd to Shades Of Rose is pretty strong form and I think back to 1000m might be a benefit to her.
(9) Twitch has strong 2nd up form and returned to racing with a good 3rd first up this prep. She’s still just had the 7 career starts and rarely puts in a poor run. The booking of Nash is a tick.
(5) Miss Jay Fox next best.
(7) Laurelin
$2.50 (2 units)
Randwick Race 7
(5) Psychiatrist is a good fresh horse and I think he has a bit of X factor about him. Very speedy and should find the front with Tim Clark to give him every chance from that position. Was a first up winner last prep with Clark in the saddle. Recent trial was good and this is much easier than the races he tackled at the end of last prep. Update: SCRATCHED
(3) Lepreezy has been hard in the market all prep and should be ready to win now 4th up. One win and a third from three previous 4th up runs holds her in good stead. With a 3kg claim from the low draw she can land in a perfect position in running.
(4) Stromboli is lightly raced and doubt we have seen the best of him yet. He was an impressive maiden winner to round out his first prep - that was in Victoria however. Won a recent trial by 1.5L.
(12) Abuela looks the best value chance of the race.
(5) Psychiatrist (SCR)
$4.45 (1 unit)
