Wednesday racing this week is highlighted by Grafton’s feature two-day carnival kicking off. Today will see the running of the Grafton Guineas and the Ramornie Handicap.
Sandown and Warwick Farm play host to the rest of the day’s action. There are some quality horses on show throughout the day and we will look to find a few winners to get you over the hump.
As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look across the meetings today and has found his best bets at Grafton and Warwick Farm. Check out his racing tips below!
Today's Racing Tips: Wednesday July 13th
Grafton Race 2
(12) Wakatipu resumes today off the back of a solid enough trial. She was very popular in the market on debut but didn’t have much luck there and is sure to be better for that run. The stable have taken their time with her and from a good draw today I expect she can break her maiden and move through the grades.
(6) Falreine has been racing in super consistent form of late and has the early speed to cross from the wide gate. Will roll to the front and could prove tough to run down.
(8) Moskeeta showed enough ability in initial campaign and she looks as if she will win a maiden soon enough. Draws nicely today
(2) Last Descend can improve getting back onto drier ground now 2nd up. Battled away okay fresh and will be fitter for that. Looks the blowout chance.
(12) Wakatipu

Warwick Farm Race 2
With the benefit of two runs under the belt I think (1) Arch Of Titus is ready to win now 3rd up. Race fitness will be key on the testing ground today and he has been very good up on speed in both runs to date. Good apprentice claim sees him well in at the weights and I think he will take some running down in the conditions at hand.
(6) Smart Legend has looked good at two trials and makes his debut today. Bowman has been booked for the ride and I’m sure this horse will be winning his fair share of races. First up on a very wet track is some concern.
(7) Spirit Of Vomo will take improvement out of the debut run and is suited rising to 1200m.
(1) Arch Of Titus
$3.20 (1 unit)
Warwick Farm Race 4
Really liked the return win of (2) Cotton Fingers who was first up off a reasonably long break. Plenty to like about a horse who can do that and no doubt will improve even more having 2nd start this prep. That was his first run for new stable and they look to have him trending in the right direction. Berry sticks for the ride and the horse has proven he enjoys the sting out of the ground.
(1) Sonnet Star drops out of a Saturday bm72 and was far from disgraced there. No doubt back to this sort of race she can improve. The 3kg claim is a big tick to her chances.
(5) Laos Fortune broke through for a deserved win last start and looks as if he will enjoy getting up in trip here. Will probably have to go back from the wide draw but will be charging late.
(3) Beep Test is right in this on best form but just not sure how well he is going at the moment.
(2) Cotton Fingers
$3.20 (1 unit)
Grafton Race 6 - Grafton Guineas
(9) Bootscooter is airborne at the moment and just doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Dug extreemly deep to win a Highway at Randwick last start and I like her getting out to the mile now while rock hard fit. So long as she can slot in midfield with some cover I think she has a bigger turn of foot than anything else in this race.
(17) Lisztomania was nosed out by Bootscooter in that Highway race and gets a little weight swing in favour today. He gets a soft draw and should map well here. 4th up he should be ready to win.
(2) Whitewater comes down from QLD and is bound to improve getting away from a heavy track. Won well two back over this trip and can make own luck up near the speed. He’s good enough for this.
(3) Ghostwriter deserves another win after four straight runner-up finishes. Looks the likely leader from a low draw and will run his usual honest race.
(9) Bootscooter
$5.50 (0.5 unit)
Grafton Race 7 - Ramornie Handicap
(8) King Of Sparta looked in need of the run fresh when starting favourite in a strong race in QLD. His best performance came when 2nd up last prep and he is the strongest credentialled horse in this race. So long as the track is playing fair and he isn’t too far off them in the straight, class should take him a long way here.
(3) Desert Lord back to 1200m looks a big tick and he has a great record at this trip. He’s had a little freshen up now and usually races well off the back of a break. If the track has dried out completely by this stage he comes well into calculations.
(2) Holyfield can lead these up and has been in solid form this prep. Back in trip suits his chances and was a comfortable winner in a strong race at Ipswich two back.
(16) Pandora Blue looks the best value chance of the race.
(8) King Of Sparta
