It’s one of the biggest race days of the year with the Championships Day 2 taking centre stage at Randwick. Caulfield will play the support act, with a nine race card of its own.
Billy Bestford has done the form throughout the day and has narrowed down his best bets on what looks a huge day of racing around the country.
Today's Racing Tips: Saturday April 9th
Randwick Race 2
(9) Loch Eagle looks extremely hard to beat off the back of recent form. Bolted in fresh on a heavy track before beating home Straight Arron comfortably on a very wet track. That horse came out last week and bolted in a very strong race. With even luck looks very hard to beat.
Caulfield Race 4
Pretty keen on (8) Yowie who was a dominant winner on debut, letting down strongly and winning in good time. Form out of that race has been strong and I think he can get a similar run today from barrier 8. Extra 100m is no knock and plenty of upside about him.
Randwick Race 6
(4) Honeycreeper absolutely bolted in last start when getting the blinkers applied. She clearly loved the bog track and the blinkers really switched her on. She ran some serious time there and looks primed to peak here over 2400m. A wide draw means she can be out of trouble and expecting her to finish off strongly.
Caulfield Race 8
(6) Aintnodeeldun was very good closing off the race fresh. Back to a bm84 he looks well in at the weights and is much better suited rising in trip. Has a win over the mile to his name and is sure to be a big improver.
Caufleidl Race 9
(11) Paperboy is ready to win now following a couple of big runs from back in the field. Was good dropping to 1200m last start but better suited out to this trip now and gate 7 is perfect for him. Flying at the minute and a win looks mighty close.
