NBA Betting Tips: Friday, 1st of April
Milwaukee Bucks at Brooklyn Nets
Barclays Center, 10:30am AEDT
The Bucks won their shootout with another contending team in the East in the 76ers last time out, with Giannis Antetokounmpo outdueling Joel Embiid in a big statement performance. That win was the Bucks third from their last four games as they continue to try and find their best form ahead of a big playoff run.
The Nets find themselves in a tricky spot in the East due to a number of different circumstances. They do have both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving available now, which obviously greatly enhances their chances of clinching a playoff berth. They were winners in their most recent game against the Pistons, but remain in eighth spot in the East.
What a fantastic matchup we have on our hands with two of the most talented rosters in the league going at it. The defending champion Bucks enter their fourth and final meeting with the Nets with a 2-1 advantage, but will start as the slight underdogs on Friday. I disagree with the bookies here and believe the Bucks are playing the better basketball of the two and should be able to negotiate another win here.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks
State Farm Arena, 10:30am AEDT
The Cavalier poor form in recent weeks looks like it will cost them a top six spot and automatic qualification to the playoffs. They enter this slate having lost four of their last five and seven of their last 11 games, with two of their wins requiring overtime. Regardless, it’s been a fantastic bounce back season for the young Cavs who will only continue to get better.
The Hawks were really slow starters this season and while they’ve shown glimpses of fantastic play, they simply haven’t been consistent enough. Trae Young has tried his best to carry his team with some huge performances in recent weeks, but even after winning three on the spin, the Hawks remain in 10th spot in the East and will need to earn a playoff spot via the play-in tournament.
The Cavs have certainly had a better season overall when compared to the Hawks, but recent form favours the home team by quite a bit in my opinion. The Hawks have also won each of their last two meetings with the Cavaliers, once at home and once on the road, and I expect them to be able to solve them once again on Friday.
Los Angeles Lakers at Utah Jazz
Vivint Arena, 1pm AEDT
The Lakers season is hanging by a thread and there is absolutely no exaggeration in that. They’ve had to deal with injuries to LeBron James at various stages and Anthony Davis constantly, but their level of performance has still been a major disappointment. As it stands, they currently occupy the 10th spot in the West, but they have the Spurs hot on their hammer.
The Jazz coughed up a 21-point lead to the Clippers last start, leading to some frustrated remarks from star Donovan Mitchell post-game. That loss was his team’s fifth in a row, all of which have come on the road. Thankfully, the Jazz return home where they’ve had far more success this season and will look to bounce back in a big way.
Not normally would I be keen on a team to cover a big spread after suffering five straight losses, but the Lakers have been a very easy kill in recent weeks and I have the Jazz doing a number on them in a bounce back game. More than happy to be on them to win this by a dozen or more points.
