NBA Betting Tips: Thursday, 10th of March
Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets
Toyota Center, 12pm AEDT
Still with their sights set on at least making it to the Play-In games, the Lakers will be desperate to bounce back from their recent loss to the Spurs. King James didn’t take part in that seven-point loss, which came after he dropped a mind-boggling 56 points in a fantastic against the Warriors. The Lakers are now 28-36 on the season and are 4.5 games behind their crosstown rivals in the Clippers who currently occupy the #8 seed in the West.
Unable to back up their inspired win over the talented Grizzlies, the Rockets fell to the Heat on the road by 17 points in their last start. Despite the loss, the young Rockets managed to stay competitive for the majority of the game, which certainly hasn’t been a common theme for Stephen Silas’ men who have the worst record in the West and the second worst in the NBA at 16-49.
In positive news for the Lakers, LeBron James is expected to return to action on Thursday after missing a solitary game against the Spurs last time out. He will be hoping to guide his team to their fourth win from as many meetings with the Rockets this season and complete the series sweep. We expect the Lakers to do just that and cover the small spread in the process.

Toronto Raptors at San Antonio Spurs
AT&T Center, 12:30pm AEDT
The Raptors have had their struggles with injuries in recent weeks and that’s a big part of the reason why they enter Thursday’s slate having lost each of their last three games. All-Star Fred VanVleet has missed his team’s last five outings due to injury, but is expected to return for Thursday’s clash with the Spurs. The Raptors will be looking to get back on the winners list to improve their positive 34-30 record and to avoid slipping further away from the top six in the East.
The Spurs were able to snap their four-game losing streak last time out against the Lakers, who were without LeBron James, defeating them by seven points in San Antonio. Dejounte Murray was able to continue his stellar regular season with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, to help bring up his team’s 25th win of the campaign. Still, the Spurs remain two games behind the 10th placed Pelicans in the West.
These teams will be meeting for the second and final time this season when they take to the courts at AT&T Center in San Antonio on Thursday. The Raptors were able to defend homecourt in style when they met earlier in the year, defeating the Spurs by 25 points in a wire-to-wire victory. With VanVleet expected to return for this meeting, we expect the Raptors to be too strong once again and to sweep the season series 2-0.

New York Knicks at Dallas Mavericks
American Airlines Center, 12:30pm AEDT
Aiming to make a late surge towards a Play-In spot in the East, the Knicks will head to Dallas on Thursday in search of their third straight win. Impressively, the Knicks were able to overcome 15-point half time deficit against the Kings in their most recent outing to win by 16 points. Julius Randle put in another huge shift with 46 points and 10 rebounds to guide his team to within 4.5 games of the #10 seed.
The Mavericks continued their hot form with a strong win over the Jazz in their last outing, making it wins in each of their last five and 11 of their last 13 games. Jalen Brunson was a late out against the Jazz, but it mattered little with the form that Luka Doncic is currently in, with the superstar putting up over 31 points a night over his last five outings. The Mavericks are now 40-25 on the season, which is good enough for fifth place in the West standings.
Despite having the far worse season of the two teams, the Knicks won comfortably in their meeting with the Mavericks at the Garden in January. The Mavericks will obviously be better off on their home deck in their rematch on Thursday, but with the form that the Knicks have shown over their last three games, we don’t expect this to be as lopsided as the bookies have currently priced it.
