It’s Australia day which means we’ve got some cracking midweek racing to get excited about. There's an eight race card at Warwick Farm and a good meeting at Caulfield to get stuck into. Billy Bestford has had a look across both meetings and has found his best bets for the day.
Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, January 26th
Warwick Farm Race 1
The trials of (2) Mars Mission leading into this have been as good as you’ll see and I’m looking forward to seeing him back at the track. Having first run in Sydney following a debut in Melbourne when running 3rd and should be ready to break through this prep. Tommy Berry sticks fro the ride from the most recent trial and I’m expecting a nice performance today.
Warwick Farm Race 2
(7) Russian Ruble has been so good this prep without breaking through but today looks his day. Was extremely impressive behind Publicist last start when taking huge ground off that horse late to just miss. Would expect him to be primed and hard fit while barrier 5 gives him the opportunity to be a little closer in running. With even luck he looks hard to beat.
Caulfield Race 2
Pretty keen on (5) Jewellery here who was impressive when running 2nd in a good 2yo race on debut. Was charging home late to just miss Philosopher (who goes around in race 1) and should take a stack of improvement out of that. She’ll no doubt get back again here from gate 11 but hoping she sees enough clear air in the straight and will be going very close.
Caulfield Race 4
(3) Enthaar looks beautifully placed here to win again. Was a very good win last start here over this trip and has since looked very good at a recent jumpout. Should be ready to fire again at her favourite track and this looks a pretty weak race on paper. Will get a good sit off the flyers up front and expecting her to peel off them at the right time and run over the top
Warwick Farm Race 5
(3) Molly Nails returned to the track with a narrow win however she and the 2nd horse absolutely gapped the rest of them - both horses broke the track record. It was a tough effort considering she was coming off a decent break and should only improve with that run under her belt. She’s building a very handy record and knows how to find the line while her 2nd up record is very good. Has been a winner over 1400m and she’s on the up.
