NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, 2nd of November
Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks
State Farm Arena, 10:30am AEDT
The Wizards have been the surprise packet in the earlier stages of the season with wins in five of their first six games. They’ve been clinical down the stretch, winning two out of two in overtime and going 4/4 in games decided by less than 10 points. Whether they can keep this level of play up is the main question.
The Hawks have had a mixed bag to start the season with three wins and three losses in the first two weeks of play. They recently wrapped up a three-game road trip with a blowout loss against the 76ers, which took their road record to 1-3, while they’re currently unblemished at home (2-0).
These clubs met in Washington less than a week ago and it was the Wizards who were able to negotiate an 11-point win after leading at every break. As impressive of a performance that it was by the Wizards, the Hawks are a far better team on their home deck and replicating that result will be extremely difficult. We expect roles to be reversed on Tuesday and for the hawks to get revenge.
Toronto Raptors at New York Knicks
Madison Square Garden, 10:30am AEDT
The Raptors struggled for form in the early part season with just one win from their first four games, but have been able to turn around their fortunes with wins in each of their last three to go ahead of the ledger. Admittedly, they’ve had a very soft draw to date with only two road games from their first seven outings.
The Knicks enjoyed some success for the first time in a long time last season when they managed to make the playoffs, and they certainly didn’t rest on their laurels in the off-season when they made a number of key changes to their roster. It’s been so far so good again in the early part of the season with wins in five of their first six games.
The Raptors may have found some wins over the past week but they’re yet to impress us with a big performance against a quality team. In comparison, the Knicks have knocked off the 76ers and also beat the then undefeated Bulls on the road. As long as they continue to play at their best then they should be making light work of the Raptors in New York.

Denver Nuggets at Memphis Grizzlies
FedExForum, 11am AEDT
The Nuggets continue to put in quality performances during the regular season despite still being without Jamal Murray who’s still rehabbing from his ACL tear. Nikola Jokic looks to be backing up his MVP campaign with another strong start to the season to help lead his side to four wins from their first six games.
The Grizzlies had a dream start to their campaign with strong wins against the talented Cavaliers and the highly-fancied Lakers in their first two games. However, they’ve since gone onto win just one of their next four games, which came in overtime against the then undefeated Warriors. Last time out the Grizzlies put in their worst performance of the season to date, going down at home to the Heat by 26 points.
The Grizzlies are certainly capable of bouncing back from their poor outing last start to defeat the Nuggets here, but with how inconsistent they’ve been from a game-to-game basis we just don’t believe they deserve to be favourites. Instead, we’re keen to be on the Joker to guide his side to their fourth win in a row over the Grizzlies at good odds.
