Spring is in the air once again this Saturday with some cracking race meetings all across the country. Caulfield will play host to the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas where we will see a mouthwatering clash between Anamoe and Artorius, while Zaaki goes in search of another group 1 in the Might And Power Stakes.
Randwick will host Group 1 racing of its own as the 3 year olds do battle in the Spring Champion over 2000m.

Horse Racing Tips - Saturday, October 9th 2021
Caulfield Race 2
(2) Buffalo River looks mighty hard to beat dropping out of the Rupert Clarke after a proper gut-buster upfront. They ran ridiculous tempo in that race and he was always going to be found wanting late. He did keep finding however and it was a super run with all things considered. This is an easier race than that and he deadset flies 2nd up. Nice draw here will allow Oli to roll forward and I just think he’s better than this lot, especially with that added fitness now.
Caulfield Race 3
No Prizes for finding him but (7) Lombardo looks a very good chance to make it three straight wins here. His previous two have been emphatic and have really proven he has some serious ability. It looks like they’ve worked out how to ride him and I think he will just prove too speedy for these. They’ve talked about aiming at the Manikato with him so he would want to be winning this to head towards something like that. Gets in nice and light once again and I think a lot of his main rivals might be spotting him too much of a lead and they won’t be able to reel him in.
Randwick Race 4
(2) Coastwatch looks the best bet on the card at Randwick today following some of his recent performances this prep. He’s coming off a 3rd in the Golden Rose when running on strongly behind In The Congo and Anamoe and I think that form is far superior to anything else in this race. He will be rock hard fit now and Waller will have this horse ready to peak over 1500m. Jmac should give him the run of the race from gate 3 and be too strong for them late.
Caulfield Race 5
(4) September Run has been screaming to get out past 1000m this prep and will appreciate every metre of the extra 100 here today. Was a flashing light run first up for 3rd before probably not being suited staying at 1000m in the Moir. Looks primed for a big performance 3rd up now and she is clearly going very well. Willo takes back over from John Allen and he has a good association with this horse.
Randwick Race 7
This is a little bit of a risk but I think (11) Equation is at the sort of price where I’m willing to forgive that first up run and hope he can find his best. There is plenty of untapped ability and a bit of X factor about him. He was well backed first up but got too far out of his ground and was in the worst part of the track. We’re getting $7+ now and I think he can bit back hard 2nd up. Is unbeaten from two 2nd up runs and drops 2kg on that first up performance. Very open race but happy to have something on him.
Caulfield Race 9
We can close out the day with the best bet at Caulfield in (11) I’m Thunderstruck. You couldn’t miss that run in the Rupert Clarke where he was absolutely hammered in the betting and just got too far back and probably should have won with a touch more positive ride. He’s ready for the mile now and I think he is going to love the way this race pans out. Draws a barrier today and should be able to settle closer and only needs to take natural improvement into this to be winning.
