There’s some quality racing spread out across the country today with the Group 1 Underwood Stakes and the Group 1 Golden Rose headlining the day’s action.
We’ll get to see the excitement machine in Zaaki go around again in the Underwood while Anamoe could stamp his mark as the best 3yo in the country in the Golden Rose.
Billy Bestford has done the form throughout the day and has narrowed down his best bets of what looks a huge day of racing around the country.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, September 25th
Sandown Race 3
(3) Linas Legend has found his form this prep and has been putting up some big ratings in his last two wins. Looks a colt on the rise and is well in the market for some of the bigger 3yo Group 1s later this spring. Frosty should be able to roll forward from the inside gate and I don’t see any real reason why he can’t make in three on the trot. Should be able to track Sandy Prince wherever he goes and the slight rise to 1400m now 3rd up looks ideal.
Sandown Race 4
(2) Zouzarella looks an exciting horse for the Freedmans and will be out to protect her unbetean record today. The last start win was as good as you’ll see from a horse having their second start - out the back, wide with no cover and she just let rip to finish all over the top of some handy horses there. Ran very good time and stretching her out to 1400m now looks perfect with some big Spring targets in mind. Prebble is flying at the moment and he should be able to find the running line with cover and be too strong for them late.
Rosehill Race 6
(1) Imaging is the best horse in this race for mine and unfortunately is also one of the unluckiest. He arguably should have won the Winx Stakes two back before running well against the pattern last start behind Incentivise. Clearly has the best form here in this field and once again will probably just need some luck from the inside draw. Luckily the best in the business will be on his back and if the gaps come at the right time, he will be winning.
Rosehill Race 8
Very excited to see (1) Anamoe do his thing here in the G1 Golden Rose. It was a very good win first up off a setback and a far from ideal lead up. He had no real right to win against race-fit horses but I think this fella is just a freak. Yes he is short today but if you can shop anywhere better than black odds it looks a steal for mine. Will be winning this and could go on to stamp himself as one of the best 3yo colts we’ve seen. Jmac will keep him out of trouble from barrier 8 and the horse should only take improvement and fitness from that fresh run.
Sandown Race 8
(6) Chaillot returns to the track today and will be looking for 4th win from as many first up performances. Clearly she flies fresh and the trials leading in have been solid on her less-preferred heavy tracks. Gets dry conditions today and there looks a heap of speed which should suit her. Started $7 in the G1 Coolmore to finish off last prep so is definitely up to the mark in a race like this. The only concern is the inside draw for mine but I’m hoping with speed on, the gaps will open and he will savage the line.
