2020-21 NBA Finals Betting Tips: Game 1
Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns
PHX Arena, Wednesday 11am AEST
After a long and gruelling season just two teams remain in the hunt for the 2020-21 NBA Championship! This best-of-seven NBA Finals series gets underway on Wednesday morning in Phoenix due to the Suns holding home-court advantage after finishing with a better record in the regular season.
The Milwaukee Bucks have had a tough time overcoming the final hurdle in recent seasons, but with a bit of luck on their side this time around they managed to get the job done. Their Conference Final series win over the Hawks did come at a cost and possible a hefty one at that however, with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s hyperextended knee a chance to see him miss the early part of the Finals.
The Phoenix Suns have been the huge surprise packet this season with their ability to not only finish with the second-best record in the league, but also to go on with it and make it to the NBA Finals, all of which they’ve accomplished after not playing the playoffs for 10 years. It’s been a historic season for the Suns regardless of whether or not they win the Championship, but they’ve certainly had some luck along with way with their opponents suffering injuries to key players in all three series en route to the Finals.
Being in the opposite conferences, the Bucks and Suns only faced each other twice during the regular season, with each team playing hosts on one occasion. Both meetings were absolute nail-biters and were decided by a single point each time, but it was the Suns who won the two-game regular season series 2-0.
The Suns have matched up well with the Bucks in recent seasons even when they were struggling, so it was no surprise to see them win both regular season meetings this campaign now that they’re good, albeit by a single point on both occasions. Fast forward to their third meeting this season which will be in Game 1 of the Finals and we have to give the edge to the Suns once again, especially with Antetokounmpo almost certain to miss through injury. Take them to cover the spread at home in Game 1!
Same Game Multi
We’ll be bringing you three-leg Same Game Multi’s for each and every game of the NBA Finals, beginning with Wednesday’s Game 1 right here. For the first leg we’ll be taking Chris Paul to bring some of his series-clinching Conference Finals form into Game 1 and score 20+ points. Secondly, we’ll be on Jrue Holiday for 20+ points if Antetokounmpo is indeed out. Holiday has taken 20 shots a night without the Greek Freak in the team and that should be more than enough to score 20 points on Wednesday. Finally, we’ll be including DeAndre Ayton to score 15+ points, which he has managed to do in five of his last six games.
- Chris Paul 20+ Points
- Jrue Holiday 20+ Points
- Ayton 15+ Points
