We’ve got a brilliant day of racing all around the country today with quality meetings at Randwick and Sandown while Eagle Farm will be home to the feature race of the day with the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets to help you have a fill up this Saturday.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, June 12th
Sandown Race 1
Kicking things off early with (5) Ranveer in the opening race of the day. Was quickly spelled after a very promising debut, running 2nd behind Profiteer. We know the spruik that horse had on him and was very good in the Golden Slipper. Ranveer should only improve off the back of that first prep and looks a smart horse for Matt Laurie.
Eagle Farm Race 3
Not hard to find, and I think most people will be tipping him, but (2) Ayrton looks one of the better bets of the day here. Was expected to win the Fred Best last week off the back of plenty of hype and you can’t knock his performance when running a narrow 2nd. Still has plenty to learn but it is clear the talent is there and am keen to see him out to the mile now. Jmac jumps aboard from the inside draw and should be able to position him prominently in behind main rival Ellsberg and be too strong late.
Randwick Race 3
Don’t mind (10) Our Bellagio Miss at an each way price here. Looks fairly open and this horse has been flying at the trials. Ran some good races in these sorts of fields last time in work and will love the sting out of the ground. Gets well down in the weights with a 3kg claim for Reece Jones who has been riding well and is a winner his only start here at Randwick.
(10) Our Bellagio Miss
$10
Eagle Farm Race 6
Keen to see (9) Garibaldi back to 1200m after running solidly in the BRC Sprint last start. I think he is much more suited over this shorter trip and if the gaps open in the straight, should be hard to hold out with the lightweight. Eagle Farm is very much suited to horses who race here regularly and I think that is a massive factor in the corner of Garibaldi today. It is a strong race on paper but many of his main rivals are interstate visitors who will have to adapt to racing here.
Randwick Race 9
Was keen on (10) Blondeau last start at a short price and while he didn’t win, the run was a lot better than it looks on paper. He came on the fastest last 600m of the entire meeting that day and looks suited getting to 1400m 3rd up from a spell. Will be nearing peak fitness and has been in flying form this prep. Gets through the conditions and stays in the same grade for the third consecutive race.
