AFL Port Adelaide vs St Kilda Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Sunday 25th April 6:40pm (AEST)
The final game of Round 6 will see Port Adelaide start as the overwhelming favourites against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval. At the time of writing, the Power are giving up a 27.5-point start in the spread, such has been the contrasting starts to the season for these clubs.
Match Prediction
Port Adelaide were far too classy for Carlton in their 28-point win in Round 5. They led at every break and never looked flustered as they made it four wins from their first five games this season. Young forward Mitch Georgiades was also named as the Rising Star for Round 5, which is the second time he’s been nominated in his young career.
There were some casualties in the Power’s win over the Blues, with Dan Houston getting subbed out with a sore shoulder and Hamish Hartlett with a corked thigh. Both players are still in contention for selection this weekend, but it could be a risk Ken Hinkley isn’t willing to take considering the already large injury list they have.
St Kilda entered Round 5 on a high after their brilliant comeback win against the Eagles; however, they couldn’t get anywhere close to replicating that performance against the Tigers as they were absolutely obliterated from quarter time onwards en route to a 86-point loss. It’s been a lacklustre start to the season for the Saints who are now 2-3 and have a percentage of just 71.
Injuries always seem to be a problem at the Saints and it’s no different at the current time. Rowan Marshall was a late out last weekend and will face a test to see if he’s fit to face the Power. Dan Hannebery continues to be plagued by leg injuries, as does Jarryn Geary, while Jade Gresham is obviously out for the season with that devastating Achilles rupture he suffered a couple of weeks ago.
The Saints were victorious in the only meeting between these clubs in 2020 via a 73-44 score line at Adelaide Oval. That was a big win from the Saints and one that no one saw coming and perhaps that’s a reason why the Power aren’t even bigger favourites here, which they certainly deserve to be when you consider the form of both sides coming in. At home and up against a team lacking confidence and consistency, a side as talented as the Power should be winning this by 5+ goals.

Port Adelaide Prop
If this game follows the script, then you certainly can’t go wrong with backing a couple of Power goalkickers. Robbie Gray is the obvious standout value wise at better than double your money odds for 2+ goals. He’s hit his straps over the past three weeks by kicking 3.0, 1.2 and 3.0 and will be licking his lips as his comes up against one of the leakiest defences so far this season. Providing he continues to spend most of his time up forward, he looks good value in the 2+ and 3+ markets.
St Kilda Prop
There’s some good news for punters with the 15+ disposal markets returning for Round 6, which opens the door for a couple of unfamiliar plays, just like the one we’re going for here. Again, we’re expecting the ball to spend a lot of time in the Saints defensive 50, so we’re looking at taking some of their defenders to rack up some touches, and have landed on Callum Wilkie for 15+. He’s averaging just shy of 17 disposals per game in their three losses this season and looks over the odds at his current $2.10 quote. Now let’s just hope he keeps his spot in the side.
