Last week’s A-League preview was a great result with 2 from 3 selections saluting, including a juicy $3.00 winner as the Mariners toppled the Phoenix to continue their hot run of form. There’s a few tough matchups this week so let’s knuckle down and see if we can find some winners. Check out our A-League Week 9 preview and betting tips below!
A-League Matchweek 9 Betting Tips
Adelaide United vs Central Coast Mariners
Friday, 7:05pm AEDT, Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide
Just like last week, the high-flying Mariners are once again the outsiders according to the bookies and once again I am happy to take the bookies on. Central Coast showed they can win both at home and away with a strong 2-0 win over Wellington last week. They are looking an inspired side at both ends of the pitch and have been extremely consistent in their performances.
While it is always tough to travel to Adelaide and win, the Mariners face a United side who are in dreadful form, having lost 4 of their last 5 matches. Adelaide head into this match off the back of a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Macarthur and look a team lacking confidence in defence as well as going forward. Pretty keen to stick solid with the in-form side here and the Mariners look a great way to kick off Matchweek 9.

Western United vs Macarthur FC
Saturday 5:05pm AEDT, Mars Stadium, VIC
I think we can start this round 2/2 as we follow up our Mariners bet into the second match of the round as Western United host Macarthur FC. Macarthur were also one of our picks last week as they saluted for us with a comfortable 4-0 victory over a hapless Adelaide United. I think once again the bookies are paying too much respect to the home team here and can’t seem to work out the difference in the market here.
Macarthur sit second on the ladder with four wins while Western United sit in 10th, with just one win this season. Macarthur also come into this in solid form, having won three of their last five and are looking on track for a maiden finals berth in just their first season in the competition. Compare this to the home side who have won just once in their past five and I can’t see this match playing out any other way than a Macarthur win.

Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar
Saturday 7:10pm AEDT, Jubilee Oval
Our final selection for this week’s preview focuses on arguably the match of the round. The ever-consistent Sydney FC take on the 3rd placed Brisbane Roar in a clash between two of the heavyweights in the competition. Sydney have had a relatively solid start to their campaign, having won three of their five matches so far and come into this off a 2-1 win against Wellington a couple of weeks ago. In a star-studded team they have the quality to dissect any opposition defence and I have a feeling we will see the sky blue’s click into another gear very shortly.
The Roar have been good so far this season but face a tricky task travelling south to face one of the best sides in the competition. They have struggled going forward in recent weeks and haven’t managed to hit the back of the net in their last two matches - something which won’t get any easier here tonight.
