Wednesday afternoon racing from around the country for December 2nd, and we're on the back of The Horse once again as he takes us to Gosford, Sandown and Echuca for his racing tips and best bets of the day.
Of course, if you'd like further analysis and tips for every race on the card, then head over to our dedicated horse racing site at www.racingbet.com.au.
Gosford Race 5
There are a number of short-priced favourites at the top of their respective races at Gosford today. There is not a lot of value to be found across the day, however this looks to be the widest race. (4) Ready To Soar looks the obvious one here with wo previous wins at this track. Last time it was on a Heavy track while the time before was a maiden against a small field. As the favourite, she looks a touch vulnerable and we are looking for some better value.
That looks to come in the form of (3) Elegant Grace who is first up here (2:0-1-1) for the Lees stable. The well-travelled mare has raced 10 times for two wins and three places. Likes this distance and looks to handle all conditions. Drops down in grade here slightly which is a positive – and if you look at her last preparation competed in Group 3 company – albeit unsuccessfully. Can win this if ready to fire.
Sandown Race 8
The highest rated race is the final one on the card and we see a few last start winners looking to continue their winning ways. (2) Triton Rising comes in as favourite after a win in this grade last start beating Ears The Barman to the line. Somewhat of an unexpected win after an ordinary run in the lower grade prior. The rise in distance was the difference and he stays at that today. The wide gate isn’t a huge issue but it means he needs to run on from the back to win this.
(5) Kuzco Lad has raced 11 times for 3 wins and 5 places. The super consistent gelding from the Waterhouse/Bott stable likes this distance and continues to race well. He won a couple of bm64 races before being a touch unlucky not to win his last start bm70 (placing 2nd). Nash Rawiller has been riding in fine form recently and will look to lead from the inside and gate. Could get away with this one of the track is playing well for the leaders.
(4) King Magnus the other one clearly in the market after two pretty-solid wins this preparation. The last was in a bm64 graded race where he put over a length on the competition. Hard to ignore and worth including as a small saver. Happy to stake with Kuzco Lad as the top selection at 3 units to 1.
Saver: (4) King Magnus - $4.60 at Palmerbet
Echuca Race 5
The top weight (1) Night King looks well placed here despite the drifting odds. He lugs the full 64kg after a 3rd place in a bm64 first-up. Steps back in grade for this one (hence the weight) and has an impressive record at Echuca with 4 races for 3 wins and a place. Gets an inside draw which makes the job slightly easier if he can hold the rail.
The better weighted (4) Coronal has been close the last few outings but often seems to find one or two better. There is market support unsurprisingly, but not sure if he can take that extra step today and get it done. He might find himself back among the runners today – which could prove a negative. At the odds differential between the two runners we are pretty keen to take the better odds of Night King.
