Mornington Racing Tips - Saturday, September 24th
Race 1
(2) Wee Nessy for Mike Moroney and Jamie Kah look the goods in this one after the filly won well at Bendigo two starts back over 100m. She then ran quite well at Flemington over 1100m which was a harder race in this, and this looks a nice race to get her back to winning form. She has run second on Soft ground so that doesn't worry her she will work her way into the race and hit the line hard.
(1) Prairie Flower for Henry Dwyer and Will Price should run another honest race. Prive takes the claim but will still carry 62kg on a filly who has been racing well over the sprint trip. She also can handle the Soft. She has missed the start by a length or two twice now and she can’t afford to do that against Wee Nessy.
(4) Lovetta looks promising and is first up today for Anthony & Sam Freedman with Zac Spain on top. She has had a couple of jumpouts prior to this race but I want to see one race before tipping her for the win.
(7) Pavliani is on debut and if there is betting support, he will be a genuine place chance.
(2) Wee Nessy Win
$1.95 (4 Units)
Race 2
(2) Defiant Diva has been in the money nine of 13 starts including five times on Soft ground. With the weather starting to get warmer and tracks drier, the stable will be going all out to get another victory. Her second last time out at Sandown Lakeside was good after she made a sustained run from the 500m. Michael Cartwright takes the 1.5kg claim and she carries 59kg.
(3) Divine Diosa hasn’t set the world alight this campaign but she is better than that. She likes this distance and is a big danger.
(4) Mrs Sippy has drawn well in barrier two and does have an excellent jockey on in Jamie Kah. She was beaten less than a length at Sandown Hillside last start after getting caught wide. With a good run she's right in this.
(6) Missy Longport was okay on Heavy ground last time (fourth) and should be fitter after two jumpouts and a race this time in.
(2) Defiant Diva Win
$2.30 (3 Units)
Race 4
(6) Najem Suhail has barrier 13 to contend with but the ex-South African horse has big raps on him and rather than take him to the city first up, the Robbie Griffiths and Matthew De kock team want to see him out of the limelight here. His last starts were at Vaal and Turfontein two years ago but im happy to be with him if Jamie Kah thinks he is good enough to ride first up.
(3) Direct is another who is first up from a spell but has won a recent jumpout. The tongue tie goes on again and he should find this race easier than some of his other races.
(9) Rattle and Bang won last start, albeit in a four-horse race but after three unplaced runs before that, that win might get his confidence up. He goes well on Soft ground and if it is raining on the day even better.
(2) Along The River is a consistent type but the track conditions may be an issue. If it doesn't rain and the track is upgraded, even better for this one.
(6) Najem Suhail WIN
$2.20 (4 Units)
Race 5
(6) Tobaysure was good at Sandown Hillside when third last time and if the pace is on in this race it will suit. He is consistent and has placed on Soft ground so conditions should be alright. He is lightly raced and never runs a bad one. Barrier 12 is tricky, but Zac Spain will be positive if he jumps. He has missed it a couple so can't afford to again from this draw.
(2) Seiners Express draws well in two and did work to the line nicely first up at Sandown Hillside (fifth). He will be fitter now and a Soft track does suit.
(5) Seb Song has been mixing his form of late, but his best is good enough to trouble these. He drops in class, and I will be surprised if he doesn't finish in the top four.
(8) French Emperor has a wide barrier in 11 but is racing for a stable that is in fine form (Price&Kent). Raced a bit erratically for about 200m last time and if he can settle, he should run well.
(6) Tobaysure WIN
$3 (2 Units)
