Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday June 22nd
Doomben Race 4
(1) Seleque looks well placed back to a bm78 and gets weight relief after the apprentice claim. Was only just beaten on a good bm85 here a few weeks ago, running home strongly from the back of the field. She’s hard fit now and just think she’s got a class edge on these.
(3) Sneak Preview is 3rd up now and was doing best work late over 1300m last start. Out to this trip now looks ideal and from a good draw I expect Maloney to give him every chance.
(8) Shebringzit was a very good first up run when hitting the line strongly. She will no doubt get better the further they stretch her out in trip this prep but should enjoy getting back onto drier ground here.
(1) Seleque
$2.40 (2 units)
Canterbury Race 5
I like the setup for (4) Tidal Creek today who rises sharply in trip to 1900m now 2nd up off a good fresh effort over 1550m. Much better suited out to this trip and is a winner at only other start here on the Canterbury 1900m. Nash takes over which is a big tick for mine and he will get everything out of this horse up on the speed. Handles wet conditions and much fitter now.
(3) Kirkeby can improve now 3rd up and rising in trip. Two runs now over the 1550m here and looks ready to win now. Was a 3rd up winner last prep.
(5) Dinado is on the quick backup following a narrow defeat on the Kenso track last week. She led there last week and might expect them to adopt similar tactics today. Her best runs have been on heavy ground.
(7) Sprout Wings is in good form, winning last start over this track/trip. Up in grade for this but looks to get a similar run here and drops in the weights.
(4) Tidal Creek
$3.20 (1 unit)
Cranbourne Race 7
Pretty keen on (5) Sacred Command here who was very well backed fresh at Sale when being beaten narrowly in a three way go. He raced in the inferior ground there and it was a super return for a horse who generally races much better 2nd up. Handles wet and think he looks to have come back in career best form.
(4) Copperfield is lightly raced and still on the up. Beaten by a handy one two back in Alverdun and then only beaten a nose by Maui on the Synthetic last time out. Clearly going very well and I’m sure he will win better races than a midweek 64. Back to 1400m looks a positive for mine.
Worth forgiving (9) Little Max last start when just in the worst part of the track and never travelled at all. The first up run was encouraging and could run a race here 3rd up.
(5) Sacred Command
$3.40 (1.5 units)
Canterbury Race 7
Really like the booking of Nash again here on (1) Narrated who takes over from an apprentice last week when narrowly defeated in stronger grade. Gets up in weight for this but really she should be winning this. Flying this prep and just think she’s got the class edge on most of these. Nash should be able to get her rolling along up in the lead and she will be too tough to run down. She loves wet!
(2) Camaguey has run back to back 2nds this track/trip and he has turned into a super consistent horse without winning much. Still stuck on just the one win but clearly going very well and looks the main danger just sitting in behind Narrated.
(4) Kalino drops out of a good Saturday race for an easier task here and should be hard fit 3rd up now. The rise to this trip looks no knock and expect he can run a strong race here.
(3) Chateau Park next best but just not sure his racing style will suit around a wet Canterbury where it might be tough to make ground.
