Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, June 23rd
Ballarat Synthetic Race 1 - (Market)
(9) Turquoise Hope is a first starter for the Phil Stokes yard at Pakenham, the son of Snitzel has had two recent jump-outs at his home track and looks to handle the synthetic surface well. The latest of those un-official trials was most impressive, in the small field he was allowed to settle back in the field before easing three-wide and looming at the top of the straight. He was hanging in early in the run home but once the jock gave him a cut with the persuader he balanced up and was string through the line to win. A replay of that jump-out can be found here. He looks ready to go. He looks to have plenty of upside, the second favourite in the early betting is (8) Zarafshan who is unplaced in 7 career starts, all in SA and has not raced on the synthetic previously. She has to be a big drifter in the betting in my opinion.
Ballarat Synthetic Race 4 - (Market)
(2) Feline Advisory is a maiden after four starts, she resumed at Bendigo on the big track and was a huge drifter in the betting. She was mid-field in the run before getting held-up at a vital stage in the run home and was again tightened inside the last furlong. She hit the line hard when clear and was only beaten a length, there is no doubt she should have finished closer. She then went to Echuca on the soft track, again was easy in the betting but started favourite in an easier maiden. She over-raced badly and was very plain second-up. She can bounce back, although she has never raced on the synthetic, she is trained locally so no doubt has done plenty of work on it. John Allen takes the ride, well drawn she should be finishing well and looks a great each-way bet.
(2) Feline Advisory E/W
$6.50
Hawkesbury Race 2 - (Market)
John Sargeant prepares the resuming (9) Easy Campese, the son of Sidestep is one of a few babies taking on the older horses. She had three runs at her first prep, the first two at Canterbury were good when attempting to lead all the way. She then went to Gosford and was a little plain after getting a soft run behind the leader on the smaller track and was sent to the paddock. She has been given two hit-outs at the trials in readiness for this, Avdulla goes back on and he should be giving something to catch up on the bunny from the good draw.
Hawkesbury Race 7 - (Market)
(2) First Footman had placed at his first two runs this campaign but was still a maiden going into his thirteenth start last time. Wore blinkers last start for the first time. He went to Gosford on the heavy track and the Freedman team pulled the trigger for the first time and added the blinkers. He led, stuck on well to win by a length with a big gap back to third. He finally broke the duck after running second seven times and the gear change looked to have made the difference. There is a little speed drawn inside him, he will go forward and if he doesn’t have to face the breeze outside the leader, he should be able to finish it off. This looks a suitable race to step out of maiden grade, Berry sticks with the ride.
