Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, July 7th
Ballarat Synthetic Race 3 - (Market)
(4) Modulo has a very good SP profile, at three starts this time in he has started at $5.50, $4.60 and $3.40. He resumed at Cranbourne on the good track, he was mid-field in the run and after making a long run, hit the front before being swamped late. He didn’t handle the heavy track second-up then ran on well when a beaten favourite in a harder maiden at Bendigo. He has had one go here on the synthetic previously, this time last year when he got back and ran on well to just miss the placings. He handled the track well and has shown enough this campaign that from the good draw and with even luck, should finish best. This really does look his race.
Ballarat Synthetic Race 5 - (Market)
(8) Miss Tenthousand was scratched from Sunday at Pakenham on the synthetic, hopefully we have more luck here and she goes around in this! She is having her fourth run this prep, those that have backed her at her previous three (me included) may have given up on her, beaten at SP’s of $3.30, $2.30 and $4.20. I am sticking with her on a surface she has shown she can handle well. Two starts back she was mid-field but forced to chase hard off a solid tempo, was held-up for 100 yards before hitting the line well into second. Again she was runner-up last start, she appeared to have every chance just behind the speed, she was still strong enough through the line to see some improvement left in her. She comes back slightly in trip, she probably goes to the paddock either way after this start, hopefully when she returns, she won’t be eligible for a maiden!

Newcastle Race 1 - (Market)
(1) Kingsheir is a Hawkes trained colt on debut off two recent trials. At Rosehill on the heavy track he wasn’t beaten far and although he was beaten a bigger margin at his latest trial, it is the one I want to focus on. He was fairly away before being snagged back to last, he scouted wide and at no stage was he urged along. He ran past half the field easily and was going as good as anything through the line. A replay of that latest Rosehill trial can be found here. He has the good draw and looks suited on the big track here at Newcastle, I expect that he will be giving them a start, and a beating. Follow him going forward. looks above average,
Newcastle Race 2 - (Market)
(1) Riccardo is having start number three, he debuted here in late January and after leading, did a little wrong in the straight and weakened to be beaten just over 2 lengths. He was here again after a 22-week break over the 900m, he led but was off the fence and after getting past the inside horse early in the straight and kicking clear, was run down in the last few strides. Drawn well with a good claim, he can go one better and go wire to wire. (4) War Memorial has speed but is first-up with no blinkers and should have to sit outside our pick whilst another fancy (5) Joviality is a Waller resumer, she will find this easier than what she tackled before going to the break but may find them too sharp over 1000m.
