Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Tuesday, July 28th.
The start to this week's racing has been hampered by the weather, causing lost meetings and plenty of scratchings. That's the case again on Tuesday, however the meetings at Moe and Taree will proceed, and Luke Krahe has picked out his best bets for each track below!
Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, July 28th
Moe Race 1 - (Market)
The first of the day has been knocked around by scratching’s but looks to have worked in our favour as I like the way it looks on paper now for (2) Maddox. The daughter of Deep Field has had three starts, placing at two of them, both of those since resuming. She was at Seymour fresh and had support at around an each-way quote, was forced to race up on the speed and eventually got outside the leader after sitting three-wide no cover for most of the race. She stuck on well off the tough run and was beaten about 3 lengths, the race has proven a good form reference with two subsequent winners coming through it. She then went to Sale in a harder race than this, settled just off the speed and hit the line well into second. She drops down to a much easier maiden here, drawn out wide looks to be a blessing as she can come across and control from outside the speed. Any black odds looks a gift.
Moe Race 3 - (Market)
(8) Mastobal is a daughter of Master OF design having her first start today, she was seen once at the official trials back in March but was sent back out to the paddock for a return later in eth year. She has had one jump-out at Cranbourne a fortnight ago, after jumping well she assumed control in front in the big field (for a jump-out). She railed well and wasn't touched the entire straight, she won the unofficial trial easily and looked strong through the line. A replay of that trial can be found here. She loos ready to go and like the first tip, drawn out looks ok as she can came across and control the tempo up on the speed. (9) Plaka will have supporters, the Godolphin filly placed at Gosford at her only start a month ago, although she had some nice sectionals, I just feel she had every chance to win. I doubt that John Allen will be positive early.
Taree Race 4 - (Market)
(7) Jaja Chaboogie has to take the step out of maiden grade and jump up into a Class 2, the authority with which she won last start was impressive. She was having her second career start, at Tamworth, over 1200m on a heavy track. She began well and sat up outside the leader, after getting the better of the inside horse, she was challenged to the outside early in the straight. I loved the way she reacted when today’s jockey Gibbo asked her the question, she clearly handles the wet tracks and was going away from them on the line. She gets up in trip, if she lands on the bunny and leads, go again in the run.
