Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, September 12th
Hawkesbury Race 2 (Market)
(9) Sangria is an interesting runner, she debuted at Kembla back in late July, was big odds, raced green in the straight but was ok in the run home to place without ever looking the winner. She then went to Newcastle and was heavily supported on track late ($3.70-$2.50) she jumped poorly and made a bee-line for the outside fence! She basically took no part and was forced to go to the trials where she romped in by 7 lengths at Canterbury on the heavy track. Obviously if you were on at the good odds last time you will want to see her jump and run this time around, but she looks to have the ability. Keep an eye on the first starter for the Godolphin yard (8) History, they showed a lot more intent at her latest trial which she won.
Hawkesbury Race 4 (Market)
(1) Broken Arrows has only missed a place once in 8 career starts, that was way back at his debut run. He resumed here at the track three weeks ago, was heavily backed ($4.60-$3.30) late in the betting. He got back in the run and wide but did have cover, got wider straightening before running on hard and missed by the narrowest of margins. It is surprising that he is so consistent given his pattern of getting back, I do also like horses that have raced well here at Hawkesbury previously, it can be a tricky surface. It does look an open race with a few chances, there is one in the market though that I will be happy to oppose. (5) Appian Way resumed at Gosford after more than a year off and was very easing in the betting before sitting up on the speed and winning in a blanket finish. From the inside alley and up in class, not for me.
Mornington Race 5 (Market)
(2) Annarbor has really gone to a new level over her last two runs. Two back at Cranbourne over a mile she had a lovely run in transit before taking over before the furlong pole and bolted in by more than 6 lengths! A horse that finished more than 10 lengths back that day has since come out and won by 4 itself! She then came to Sandown on the big outer track over 1800m, was 4 deep to the turn and ran on strongly to win by more than 3 lengths. There has also been a subsequent winner come through that race since, the form lines seem to be holding up and the combined winning margins of 9.75 can’t eb ignored. She is up in class again but back against her own sex, look for her late!
Rockhampton Race 4 (Market)
(1) Absolute Artie took a while to find his feet, but the move to North Queensland looks to be paying dividends. He has had four starts up there and not misses a place, cracked it for the maiden win two back at Mackay as a very short priced favourite ($1.35). He then was here at Rocky last time at 0-55 grade and again a well backed favourite but this time in black figures ($3.10-$2.80). He led, kicked early in the long straight and bolted in. I like the fact that he once again has the wide barrier, he will be able to get across again and lead and stepping up to the mile looks ideal. He will be winning again. (2) Blue Seal is an interesting runner having his first start in Qld, watch the betting with him.
