Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, May 28th
Ballarat Race 1 - (Market)
(2) He’s Run Away is going to start favourite, but how can we get into a 12-start maiden that has placed six times? He was only fair after being held-up two starts back then was beaten a long way at Cranbourne last time, surely he gets out a lot further in the market? (4) Cake Walker has only been to the races three times, her first two starts she was plain and looked to have every chance. She had three weeks off before going to Swan Hill last time and was very well backed late to start a 5/2 favourite. She git the gun run again in transit and looked to have very chance, she kept coming in the straight but was very one paced. She looks a real grinder and going from the 1600m to the 2100m is a big ask, but it looks right up her alley. Happy to accept this lot know what they are doing with her.
Ballarat Race 3 - (Market)
At the time of writing there are no scratching's so am hoping that come jump time, it will still be a three-place dividend race. (8) Jenni Bad Cat was really good on debut and should start close to flip of the coin odds. She can certainly win but don’t want to be on at those odds. Looking wide, (9) Misirlou has not placed at four starts, hardly set the track on fire. She hasn’t raced in six weeks but interestingly has been back to the jump-outs on the synthetic track. Although she finished last of the three, she did sit off the track and wasn’t beaten far behind Lake’s Folly who ran well as favourite in a much harder race yesterday. A replay of the jump-out can be found here. She looked to handle the surface, @ 20/1, yes please.
Gosford Race 2 - (Market)
(1) Archery Butts had his first two runs south of the border, he was well beaten and really didn’t show much. The big blue army had no hesitation in sending him to the paddock and the chopping block, he resumes today as a gelding. He looked a different horse at a recent Hawkesbury trial, his breeding suggests he should handle the wet track, although he was poor last time on it. The key will be in the betting, if they back him late, keep chiming in.
Gosford Race 3 - (Market)
(1) Great News is stepping out of maiden grade after winning last time at Wyong, she also has to go from a good track to the Heavy8 at time of writing. She is currently around the even-money quote and am very confident you will be getting better than that come race time, although I won’t be on. You will be able to get double figure odds about (5) Divine Approach, her run was super resuming at her first go out of maiden grade. She then went to Scone and after being slowly away, ran on well in limited space with some of the best sectionals of the race. Hopefully she begins better and gets a soft run, ridden for luck around the turn the gaps usually come around here on a bog track.
