Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Thursday, March 12th.
There's plenty of racing right around the country, with six meetings scheduled in total. Three of those take place at Goulburn, Warrnambool and Pakenham and you can find Luke Krahe's best bets of the day below.
Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, March 12th
Goulburn Race 1 - (Market)
This is only going to be a place 1-2 race, but I am very confident that (4) Indicators on will fill one of those spots and you will be getting better than even money for the place. Although it is only a 1000m race, there doesn’t appear to be much speed on paper and he may be able to get a cheap lead. She started odds-on last start in a harder race and although he did appear to have every chance, he did enough. He comes back to a Class 2 and with the lead his, the early price looks overs?
Goulburn Race 2 - (Market)
(2) Ghost Town is having his third career start, he debuted here as favourite and after leading, he rolled away form the fence on the heavy track and was run down late. He then went to Moruya and obviously had some issues. He was very easy in the betting suggesting that it was no secret, had the perfect sit behind the speed and was the first beaten and dropped out. He is better than that and has been to the trials since. Going off the SP profile at those two starts, happy to be back with him.
Warrnambool Race 6 - (Market)
(2) Ferus is coming off a last start maiden win at Terang. He resumed at Stony Creek and was well in the market, he did plenty wrong early and tried to buck the rider off early. Her worked wide on the speed after bungling the start, stuck on well to place in what has been a good form reference. He then went to Terang and was a solid favourtite, he showed good speed to lead and after kicking early in the straight, bolted in by almost 3 lengths. Linda Meech sticks with the ride and she is rarely negative, he can take the next step. Watch how the track is playing early in the day (after the jumps races), he could be very well backed.
Pakenham Race 3 - (Market)
(4) Carpool Karaoke is a first-starter for the Anthony Freedman yard, the son of Tavistock has been given plenty of time with three jump-outs and two official barrier trials dating back to May last year. The jump-out in late February at Balnarring was good on a heavy track and he looked to get through the conditions well. His latest trial was very impressive at Cranbourne, he pinged the lids and landed on the bunny after about 20m. He was in cruise control throughout, railed well and was a dominant victor in good time. He has the blinkers on as he did in tat trial, a replay of that can be found here (trial 22).
