Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, June 18th

Wyong Race 2 - (Market)

I have been waiting for (7) Delector to resume, she has been scratched twice recently (including an easier race at Bathurst on Monday) and they have chosen to run her here. She had three runs for the Kris Lees stable back in late 2019, she ran into some handy ones at back-to-back Scone maidens before going to the paddock. She has had two trials in preparation for this for the new stable, the latest was the one I was most interested in. She began ok but was hard held early and sat very wide, she stuck with the leaders but was off the track around the turn and into the straight before the jock asked the question. She quickened nicely and ran through the line well to win the trial, a replay can be found here. She may be wanting further but if she can get a good trail and get to the outside not far off them at the top of the shorty straight, she can run on by. (3) Pitchfork will start the favourite but happy to take him on, he ran second at the Kenso track at his latest effort and although there was a big gap back to third, he was entitled to win the race. Very happy to be against if he starts in the red.

(7) Delector

$4.40

Wyong Race 4 - (Market)

(4) Alakahan looks the best of the day at Wyong and I am happy to be taking black figures about him. He is a maiden tackling previous winners which is normally a red light but happy to say the import is up to it and the Freedman yard know how to place a horse. He placed at 1 of 2 in Ireland before making the trek across to Australia, he resumed at Kembla over a mile and was on-paced but got through the line well. He then went to Newcastle and was well supported, settled mid-field before running into second producing the best last furlong of the race. He gets the blinkers on third-up and should be fully fit, settles mid-field or better in the run from the good draw and assuming he relaxes in the run, will not be a maiden next start.

(4) Alakahan

$1.85

Seymour Race 2 - (Market)

Wendy Kelly trained (10) Sippity Sup at her first start at Mornington back in the late Spring where she put in a solid effort behind a couple of smart ones. She was sent to the paddock and has since been transferred to the Waller yard and has had three jump-outs to prepare for this fresh run. The latest of those was at Caulfield, a replay of which you can find here. She jumped well and sat wide throughout at the tail of the field, over-racing a little. She was produced four and five wide approaching the straight and ran on very well through the line, I would say the best of the bunch. Willow and Waller combining, with the beautiful long run to the first turn there should be no excuses.

(10) Sippity Sup

$3.40

Seymour Race 5 - (Market)

(5) Scantoon resumed at Cranbourne and at career start number two, sat back and destroyed his rivals in the run home to score his first win at an odds-on quote. He then went to town on a Saturday second-up in a much harder race and was supported at double figure odds, after getting a mile back though he failed to run on and was very flat. I expect that getting out to the mile and third-up he will be a big improver, if the money comes for him the confidence will grow. He should get an economical run from the good draw, you don’t want to be wide (especially without cover) around the long sweeping bend over the 1400m or the mile here at Seymour.

(5) Scantoon

$3.80
