Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, July 30th
Ballarat Synthetic Race 1 - (Market)
(1) Bureaucrat gets into the double-figures in the career starts column today, he looks to have come back well and sticking to races like this, he shouldn’t be a maiden much longer. He resumed in a harder race at the Valley 18 days ago, he got back in the run and worked to the line very nicely. First-up at the 1500m that day, I loved the way he went to the line, sticking to the same trip today. He will be giving them a start but should appreciate the bigger track here. (2) Lexington Lad has the experience on the synthetic tracks, all of his runs have been on this surface, he has had his chances. Happy to be right against him at the price.
Ballarat Synthetic Race 3 - (Market)
(2) Little Caleb debuted at Swan Hill over the flying 975m back just over a month ago. He wasn’t beaten far on the soft track and looked to have plenty of improvement in him. He then came here for start two and his first crack at the synthetic track, he got a mile back and very wide on the turn, although he never looked the winner, he ran through the line as good as any. Callow sticks with the ride and after going over the shorter trips at the first two starts, he really looks suited getting out to the 6 furlongs. Expect him to drop out and run over the top, they can do that here and he looks a great each-way bet.

Hawkesbury Race 1 - (Market)
(8) Vegareign is an ex Kris Lees runner that had 6 runs for that yard and was unable to beak the duck. He was sent to the paddock and transferred stables to the Brad Widdup barn here at Hawkesbury, he was off the scene for 35 weeks, resuming here 18 days ago on a heavy track over 1300m. He was fairly away but run into trouble early in the race leaving him last in the run at the 800m mark. He was looking for a run and although he was clear late and only fair in the run home, the race was run against hi, suiting those up on the speed. He gets out in trip and the nose roll goes on, I expect him to be a lot closer to the speed off the inside draw.
Hawkesbury Race 2 - (Market)
Only a small field after the early scratching, I don’t think (5) Happy Candy is taking up as much % in the market as she should be and looks a good bet at the early price. She won her maiden nicely last campaign and has had a few runs to try and get the second win, her two runs back this campaign have been very good without saluting. She resumed here and after over-racing, hit the line well in an on-paced dominated race and was only beaten a length. She then went to Gosford on the heavy track, again she had the perfect run in transit. This time she dashed to the front and looked hoe before getting run down late as favourite. Admittedly she has had her chances at those two runs, she gets the right run here again with the claim. She handles the wet and this field certainly looks no harder. I certainly don’t think we will be seeing $3 bet about her.
