Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, January 30th
Scone Race 2 - (Market)
(1) Bring Glory is a first-starter for the Brett Partelle yard at Wyong. The son of Sebring has obviously had some issues and has taken his time getting to the races for the first time, he has had 6 official trials dating back to September of 2018. He has had two recently, firstly narrowly beaten at Gosford then last time there was a lot to like about his win at Wyong, albeit under trial conditions. HE jumped well but didn’t get pushed along early in the small field, sat behind the two leaders before easing around heels. I like the way he accelerated when asked, got past the leaders comfortably late in what was one of the fastest trials of the day. (5) Henschel is a recent trial winner also at Wyong just not keen on him at the short odds after what we saw of him at his first two runs.
Scone Race 6 - (Market)
(3) Holy Sunday has the wide draw to deal with but it may just mean we are getting a better price. He was given plenty of time before making his debut at Hawkesbury and this looks the easiest maiden he has contested so far. Two back at Canberra he was beaten by Riverside’s Cash who has come out and won again since. Last start here at Scone he got a mile back in the small field, came very wide on the turn and into the straight and charged home late into second. It was “put it straight into your blackbook” kind of run and looks like the price assessors didn’t miss it either. Will need to be a good ride from the gate but if he gets cover, he should finish too hard.
Doomben Race 1 - (Market)
(6) Lady Melba had trialed well enough leading into her debut here at Doomben three weeks ago, there was some support for her that day as well from double figures in. She was drawn the same gate she has today, three, and was well away and found the lead comfortably. She railed well but didn’t find a lot at the back-end and was well beaten and would have taken plenty from the run. In form apprentice Steph Thornton takes the ride and back against the girls form the good gate, she can lead for a long way at a big price. (5) Jay Curve comes through that same race and was beaten as favourite, if she gets out to $5 have a saver on her. She ran on hard from a mile back that day and should settle closer with the blinkers on for the first time.
Pakenham Race 5 - (Market)
(10) Lysandra is on debut from the Nikki Bourke yard, she has had five jump-outs in preparation for this debut and I was taken by the latest one at Cranbourne. She jumped away awkwardly and wanted to run but was restrained and wide to mid-field. She hung out around the bend but when she balanced up and got going straight, she ambled up them and could have won as she liked. She wasn’t pushed out and looked very string through the line. The heat (heat 9) can be found here. She looks ready to go and the only worry may be the inside gate. Happy to take on (4) Mediated who was beaten as favourite at Cranborne last start on the heavy track, he was very plain after a soft run.
