Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, March 15th
Coonamble Race 3 - (Market)
(9) Confinement has been to the races three times, two of them this campaign. She resumed at Scone and was very easy in the betting after opening favourite. She was wide with cover and a little all over the shop, ran on well into second in what has proven a good form reference. She then went to Mudgee and was well supported as favourite, was mid-field and held-up for most of the straight. She was hampered at the furlong, no doubt she should have almost won the race. Third-up she should be fully fit and this looks no harder.
Coonamble Race 7 - (Market)
The feature of the day is the Country Champs Qualifier, (3) Fast Talking goes on top. He won three races last campaign by a total of 19 lengths. He resumed at Mudgee over 1200m, after settling down mid-field he got away from the rails and ran on well once balance up to score. A little concerning that he has not placed at two previous second-up runs, but the win resuming shows he has come back well. (6) Sir Winkle is an interesting runner resuming, the former Kris Lees trained runner has switched stables (chasing this kind of race?) and gets the services of Hughie Bowman. Watch the betting for any support off a trial win, the inside gate should see him on the speed for a long way.
Grafton Race 6 - (Market)
(1) Waltzing Willie has to carry the big weight first-up, he does look the class runner though. He was flying last prep, placed at the first two runs before posting back-to-back wins at Murwillumbah and Ballina. He then went to the paddock and returned for just one run at Coffs Harbour at his latest. He was stuck three-wide no cover throughout, he stuck on ok beaten 3.5 lengths. It looks a very winnable race with plenty of speed drawn all around, he can get the cold sit and dash nicely fresh.
(1) Waltzing Willie
$8.00
Sale Race 3 - (Market)
(1) Atypical is a first-starter for Clinton McDonald, he is also nominated for Wednesday at Sandown, so if he doesn’t start here, look for him then. He was brilliant winning a trial recently at Cranbourne he led, was pressured from the outside by another horse in this race, and when asked was clicked up and bolted in. He was running away from them and those in behind were all under the stick, including (2) High Done who could not match him. The $3.20 early would have been nice but happy to take the current price around 6/4. The time in the trial was slick, he wears the blinkers as he did in the trial, a replay (heat 23) can be found here.
