Horse Racing Tips: Monday, June 22nd
Scone Race 3 - (Market)
Lees and Gibbons combine with the Hallowed Crown filly (3) Surf, she debuted here at Scone back in mid-March over this trip. She had only trialed fairly prior to that run and was very heavily backed, the official price on the NOP was $6 into a $3.60 favourite. After being crowded at the start, she was mid-field and off the rail in the run, didn’t show a lot of dash in the run home and was very one-paced. It has been a good form reference with 5 winners comig through the race, she was sent to the paddock and returns today. She has trialed ok on the heavy track at Wyong, the weight of money for her can’t be ignored at her debut, she looks a great each-way bet at the price. Confidence will grow if the price comes tumbling in late again.
Scone Race 5 - (Market)
(1) Halcyon House is yet to miss a place in 4 career starts, he won his maiden at Armidale before going to the paddock, resuming here at the track off a 14-week break. He was well supported at that return to the track, he sat up on the speed and did appear to have every chance when running second. There is some speed drawn wider, he also has enough tactical pace to lead and off the inside gate, the jock should have all the options. Hopefully they take a sit with him, the big track here rarely sees horses held-up in the run home. Back in trip also helps, they should go hard throughout and that cold sit behind them is the run he needs.
Swan Hill Race 1 - (Market)
(7) Big Boy’s Girl is a daughter of Hussonet having her first start for the Kym Hann yard at Bendigo. She has had an official trial win at Tatura a couple of months ago but it was her win in a recent Bendigo jump-out that got me interested. She jumped beautifully, led, was clicked up early in the straight but wasn’t hustled late to win the un-official trial easily. A replay can be found here. (pink black sleeves and cap). The stable is on a high after having a win at Donald on Saturday, although drawn out she should be able to push forward and sitting wide is no drama over the 975m here.
Swan Hill Race 5 - (Market)
(2) Place Me Right is still a maiden after 13 starts, he has win placings in 6 of those runs. He has shown very little in two runs back this campaign, resuming at Moe he was beaten almost 10 lengths over 1200m and was never in the race. He then went to Ballarat in a harder maiden over 7 furlongs, again he got back in the run but was better in the run home. The key here is three things. He is third-up and should be fully wound up, placing at both of his previous third-up runs. He gets out in trip, his best runs last campaign were out to the mile and further. Thirdly, he gets back on top of the ground, both runs this time in have been on soft tracks, he has placed at 4 of 6 when on a good track. He looks a great each-way bet at the double figure odds, maybe more the place than win if that is your go!
