Horse Racing Tips: Monday, June 15th
Pakenham Race 1 - (Market)
(3) Kamo is still a maiden after 6 career starts, the son of Written Tycoon has placed at three of them and resumes today off a long break. He has had one run here on the synthetic track back in September last year, after settling handy he ran on well to run second with a big gap back to third. The winner of that race was Triton Rising who was only beaten just over a length at Listed level a couple of starts later and has won this prep since resuming. Kamo has jumped out well enough recently, he is fresh with the blinkers off and will get back. He may just want a little extra trip but should be hitting the line hard. This is not a strong race.
Pakenham Race 2 - (Market)
(9) Judestar has opened big odds for this 1200m maiden for the 3YO’s, she has only had one start and it was at Ballarat on the synthetic track. She got back in the run before easing wide and kept coming in the straight, I liked the way she ran through the line. It was more suitable to be up on the speed the way the race was run so she did well to get to within about 3 lengths. She goes from 1100m to the 6 furlongs today and gets the blinkers on for the first time, I can see plenty of improvement in her and should settle closer. Looks a great each way bet - I've already taken some of the $34 but she's now into around $11.
Albury Race 2 - (Market)
It took (4) Gunzar 11 starts to break his maiden status, that was when resuming at his home track at Goulburn last start. He looks to have come back a much-improved horse, he was unwanted in the betting and started at huge odds. He was stuck four-wide no cover mid-field early befor ethe rider decided what was a race winning move to push on and go for home. He was well clear into the straight and never looked like getting run down to win by almost 3 lengths. Interestingly that was his first go on a rain-affected track, he looked to handle it well and from the good draw, can race on the speed again. Harder here getting out of maiden grade for the first time but I think he should handle the step up in class.
Albury Race 5 - (Market)
We stick with the Danny Williams stable out of Goulburn for our second tip at Albury, (3) Petaluma was having her third career start when resuming at her home track. She was big odds and caught three-wide no cover on the speed. She kept on with it to find the lead and stuck on well to run second getting run down late. The form lines out of that race look to hold-up well with the fourth horse across the line coming out and winning her maiden on Friday. She steps up a furlong in trip and should get cover mid-field or better. Her effort resuming was really good considering the work she did early, this looks no harder and love the rider change with Blaike McDougall going on.
