Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Monday, July 6th.
Luke Krahe has highlighted his best bets for Wagga and Warracknabeal on Monday afternoon in his preview below!
Horse Racing Tips: Monday, July 6th
Wagga Race 1 - (Market)
(1) Royal Fighter is still a maiden after 6 starts, he has placed at three of them. Three starts back he got back over the mile and hit the line hard for second, then went Albury on a heavy track , produced the best last 800m of the race and tried to win the race in the steward’s room. He protested unsuccessfully but the run was strong going into last start at Albury again. He started in the red on the bookie’s boards, he got back to last and was only plain on the very heavy track. He gets a similar race here and takes the blinkers off for the first time, he will get back again but hopefully can settle closer. He has good closing speed, with a couple of them looking to lead the pace should be good and he can close hard.
Wagga Race 4 - (Market)
(1) Crimson Hoffa draws out in the carpark, he should be able to use his tactical speed to get across and hopefully lead. He was resuming at Wagga in a similar race a couple of weeks ago, over the 6 furlongs he kicked through to hold the lead and stuck on well on what was clearly the worst part of the track. It was Heavy 10 that day and it should be improving with the good weather around on Sunday. The draw is obviously a concern but hopefully they stamp him urgent, he has been very consistent barring one run at the back-end of the last campaign. There is a little bit of speed drawn inside but stepping up to the 1300m I am confident he can cross.
(1) Crimson Hoffa E/W
$9.00
Warracknabeal Race 1 - (Market)
(3) Em Em D’ar has only placed at one of his 6 career starts and that was back at his debut in the middle of last year. He resumed at Ballarat three weeks ago over 1000m, after settling mid-field he swung wide and chased hard the entire straight to just miss. He sticks at the 1000m, probably would have preferred an extra 100m but the draw and speed map look favourable. The race he resumed in has proved a good form reference, the second horse has come out and won easily at Ballarat a week ago on the synthetic at a short price. The play is each-way at the double figure odds.
Warracknabeal Race 2 - (Market)
(12) Shantara debuted at Seymour three weeks ago over 1000m on the Soft6, they opened her a big price, by the time they jumped she was almost into single figures. She was only fairly away before settling mid-field, she tried hard but was beaten a couple of lengths into second by a short-priced Mick Price debutant that looks very smart. She stays at the 1000m and from the good draw and a better getaway, should be able to settle closer. Her run wasn’t missed on debut and this certainly looks easier.
