Horse Racing Tips: Monday, January 20th
Taree Race 3 (Market)
(4) Jay’n’Jay is also engaged at Queanbeyan today so it will be interesting to see where he goes to, also a chance in that race but he looks a good thing if he comes to Taree. He was huge odds when resuming at his only start on a rain affected track, sat up on the speed and was only narrowly defeated. He ran second three times in a row this prep before coming north to Taree last time. He was heavily supported and started favourite, once again assumed control but found very little late. I like the fact that he is drawn out today without the blinkers, he will be carving over and hopefully keeps it a hot tempo and makes them all chase hard throughout.
Taree Race 5 (Market)
(6) Django Unchained goes well here at the track, both wins have been here and he has placed on both other occasions. He led for a long way when resuming in a race which has proven a good form reference with two subsequent winners coming through it. Last start he was unable to lead but had a nice rails run, eased around them on the turn and chased hard. He held his spot in third and although he did have every chance, there was a big gap to fourth. A horse that finished even further back has since come out and won in this grade. I like the fact that he is going from 1300m to a mile, drawn well with the tongue tie on, he should be able to get a comfortable lead and be hard to run down.

(2) Tourmaster has to take the step out of maiden grade but he couldn’t have been more impressive in that last start win. He was backed int a very short quote at Mudgee, deep in the red, and those that took the short odds had to endure a little sweat early in the straight. He led them up but was challenged as they fanned for home, he responded well to the rider and once he balanced up again he put them away quickly for a dominant win. He is drawn out wide but I am confident that he can cross and lead and be too quick. (1) Glamour Cat is an interesting runner that has changed stables and now calls Queanbeyan home after leaving the Anthony Cummings yard. She was a winner on debut but hasn’t done much in recent races this prep, this is easier but would need to see some serious money for her at the first start before changing yards.
Queanbeyan Race 4 (Market)
The theme of the day is shorties and this looks as good as any of them. (1) Katie Did It has won back-to-back races coming into this, both of them here at the track. Two starts back she led and won a Class 1 and maiden by almost six lengths over a mile. Last start, again here at Queanbeyan, she was up to a Class 2 and again brained them, this time over the 7 furlongs and again by more than 6 lengths! She will be carving over from out wide looking for the top, gets the 3kg claim to get some weight relief, hard to see her getting run down if she gets to the rails first as I expect her to do.
