Horse Racing Tips: Monday, February 10th
Bathurst Race 1 - (Market)
(2) Green Jacket looks the best of the day anywhere, there is some black figures around as I write this and anything where you are profiting more than you outlay here is a bonus. The Bjorn Baker trained gelding debuted at Wyong in a harder maiden back in September on a heavy track. He was really well backed late to start as low as $3.30 at the set weight conditions. He was slowly away, settled worse than midfield and got wide approaching the straight. He was all over the shop in the run home and only beat one to the line. He was went to the paddock and resumes today, he has trialed really well in preparation for this and was pushed out in both, suggesting he is ready to go. Back on top of the ground and fresh in an easier maiden, he should be winnign this.
Bathurst Race 7 - (Market)
We stick with the Bjorn Baker and Brandon Lerena combo for our second tip at Bathurst. (10) Just Jessie resumed at Goulburn in a BM58 and although he had his chances, he over-raced fairly badly and didn’t finish the race off. He is second-up today, last time this pattern he was a winner of his maiden in dominant fashion up the road at Mudgeee after a great ride. They did try to ride her quietly at the back-end of last campaign but I suggest from the wide draw they will go forward, the spot outside the leader wouldn’t be the worst if able to control the tempo. Lobe this stable when they bring them west!
Tamworth Race 5 - (Market)
(2) Lochita looks a real swimmer, at the time of writing it is a Heavy 10 at Tamworth so let’s hope the meeting goes ahead! She debuted on a heavy track at Warwick Farm, was an easing favourite but led and stuck on ok to place. His second run was on top of the ground art Newcastle and had excuses after sitting wide throughout and featured in the steward’s report with a respiratory noise when returning to scale. She was sent to the paddock and had trialed well prior to her fresh run at Taree 3 weeks ago. On a heavy 10, she took a while to balance up mid-field but once she did, she drove hard to win narrowly with a big margin to third. Sam Clenton takes the ride getting out to the 1400m, the wetter the better? (1) Animate is sure to have admirers but hasn’t been seen on rain affected ground, happy to take him on.
Sunshine Coast Race 2 - (Market)
(2) Desert Digby has opened favourite in the small field coming off 2 dity runs, he was good resuming then dropped out alarmingly last time but did pull up lame. Happy to take her on and can see her being a huge drifter. (1) Ringo’s A Rockstar should press for favourtism if not take-over on top in the betting, he has had one run back from more than year on the sidelines. He was only beaten just under 2 lengths at Listed level before going to the paddock. He resumed here on the Sunny Coast two weeks ago in a harder race, settled worse than mid-field and made up good ground back near the inside when the fence was certainly not the place to be! He has a good record second-up (6-3:0:0) draws the outside in the small field and will have the cold sit on them. He is a winner on a heavy track previously and was good in the soft when resuming.
