Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Friday, June 26th.
Friday's racing is headlined by meetings at Geelong and Scone and we'll be hoping to head into the weekend on the back of a few winners. Luke Krahe has highlighted his best bets for both tracks below!
Horse Racing Tips: Friday, June 26th
Geelong Race 1 - (Market)
Ahhh maiden staying races, some of these will be down to a walk by the end of this. (10) Bowness is still a maiden after 7 start, there has been plenty of positives over her last three runs. She was well backed over the shorter mile trip at Donald, placing but never really looking likely. She then went to Echuca out to 2100m and was forced to make a very long run, getting close at the furlong but the run told and she just peaked late. Last start here at Geelong she was out to today's trip, was forced to race three-wide no cover for the second half of the race and stuck on ok after the tough run. The tongue-tie is applied today, hopefully she can get cover and just be saved for one run, thus is no harder.
Scone Race 4 - (Market)
The market will tell us that there are only a few chances here, am happy to be against the likely favourite (2) Manseneta. He comes to a Clas 1 and maiden race over the mile after beating up on a very poor field at Tamworth last time and are asked to take shorter odds in a tougher race? No thanks! (3) The Borough took 14 starts to break his maiden status, that was last start at Tamworth a week earlier than the fave broke his duck. It was in very wet conditions and after making a long run, ran on to win by more than 6 lengths. It was a dominant win and the conditions here should suit. The draw looks poor on paper but he should be dropping out and running on, there looks to be enough speed on paper. At the prices, he looks much better value off that dominant win.
