Horse Racing Tips: Friday, July 3rd
Bendigo Race 1 - (Market)
14 first-starters!!! This is the stuff I love! (1) Autumn House has had three jump-outs, the latest of those was her eat Flemington and was very impressive, I really liked what I saw. The daughter of More Than Ready was only fairly away before picking up well and getting behind the leader. When that leader kicked away around the turn, she followed through nicely and was untouched all the way up the straight. I have no doubt she had plenty up her sleeve, a replay of that jump-out can be found here. Obviously respect any serious money for any of them having their first time on the float on race-day.
(1) Autumn House E/W
$9.00
Bendigo Race 5 - (Market)
(8) South Street Boss should be double figure odds, and deservedly so with his poor overall record and the fact he hasn’t won in more than year. A lot of negatives I know but his last start was a lot better than what it looked on paper. The form guide will say a fifth of nine beaten 4 lengths, in what was a much harder race than this. He got back, made good ground on a day that was very hard to do, it was also a big advantage to be hugging the rails. He is going to get back but there is a lot of speed on paper and should appreciate getting back on the big track. Down in class, each-way all day at the double figures.
(8) South Street Boss E/W
$8.50
Nowra Race 1 - (Market)
(1) Bill ‘n’ Ted is yet to win this time in but will find this easier than more recent runs. Two back at Armidale he was three-wide throughout and still coming late to miss by a small margin. He then went to Gosford on a heavy track, he proved a difficult ride throughout for Ashley Morgan and never got clear in the straight. He was only beaten just under 2 lengths, it has proven a very good form reference with three horse winning out of it and no doubt he should have finished closer. I love the jockey change, he will be mid-field but should be finishing hard. Looks suited back in this type of BM58.
Muswellbrook Race 4 - (Market)
Followers of this site know that Gibbons/Lees is my second favourite combination in the Hunter (Bullock/Lees is number one). (14) Zanshin is a 2YO daughter of Dawn Approach taking on the older horses here, she has been to the races twice and been runner-up, beaten under a length, on both occasions. She led on debut at Coffs Harbour but was off the fence, tried to okick clear but was no match for the winner. Last time at Port Macquarie on a heavy 10 (plays like a heavy 13 at that track), she was very short in eth betting and after having the gun run behind the speed, never really looked comfortable in the going. Drawn well again and on a much better surface, she will get no better chance to break the maiden status.
