Harness racing expert Trent Orwin is back to take a look at the upcoming harness racing meets at Albion Park and Bendigo on Tuesday, March 24th. Here's his best bets from the day's harness racing.
Harness Racing Tips - Tuesday, March 24th
Albion Park Race 4 – (Market)
(4) Dataldo is a three-year-old colt racing in excellent form for trainer Donny Smith. He was a 1:54.0 winner two starts ago when leading throughout as the $1.45 favourite to win by 13.2m. Last start he raced outside of the leader in a slick 1:53.2 mile rate to finish third behind The Doorman. He will be racing on the speed from barrier four and looks hardest to beat. The main danger is (1) Flo Ryda from the inside barrier for trainer-driver Grant Dixon who won at his Queensland debut in 1:57.2.
Albion Park Race 8 – (Market)
The lucky last at Albion Park is an open affair for horses rated NR 70-90. I like a couple of horses in the event. The first is (5) Macey Jayde for trainer Stephen Cini. The five-year-old mare was runner up in an NR 75-90 race last time when leading and being run down by Much Bettor in 1:55.2. If she can find the lead again, she is going to give a bold sight. (1) Spike Bromac changes trainer after being claimed and joins Ryan Veivers. His last start effort when fourth in 1:56.5 over the 2138m was a good enough effort to be competitive here at a bit of a price.
Value: Spike Bromac - $10 (Bet365)
Bendigo Race 2 – (Market)
A claimer over the 2150m that looks a good battle between (4) Villareal and (8) The Sparrow Hawk. Two starts ago, The Sparrow Hawk, trained by Brent Lilley and driven by Chris Alford was an easy 6.9m winner over Villareal at Melton on Rain Affected going. The Sparrow Hawk sat 1 out 2 back in the run and took over at the 400m mark. He drew away from Villareal in the final 50m after that horse raced in the breeze. Willing to forgive last start when beaten 8.8m during a 56.6 last half at Cranbourne.
