Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday February 22nd 2023
Race 1
Will be looking to open the card with a bang on (9) Touch Faith here who should be able to capitalise on one of the most extreme speedmaps I’ve seen in quite some time. Almost 75% of this field could lead or press for a forward position which should set the race up perfectly for Touch Faith who was slightly held up last time but closed well for 5th. Zac Purton to steer and a nice e/w price.
(4) M M Johnny has been looking like he’s ready to win for quite some time now. He’s drawn well in gate 2 and gets another chance here but has lacked conviction for mine of late and may need to find that before I’m confident enough in his ability to win a race.
(10) Heavenly Thought has been slowly returning to some form of late and may be able to run his best figure in some time here under Silvestre De Sousa. He’s an 8yo so hard to fully trust but should be a good chance for minors at the very least.
(9) Touch Faith Each-Way
$7/$2.60 (1 Unit)
Race 4
(4) E Brother managed to cling on to victory last time after working hard to lead and not getting much of a rest mid-race. This race looks a completely different setup for E Brother with minimal pace on the speedmap and a good gate for this horse he should be able to kick up and hold the lead on the rail without spending anywhere near as much petrol as he did last time. He’s the favourite for a reason and is a high percentage play on the speedmap.
(3) Harmony N Home is the only horse that should be a risk to E Brother in the lead. If Harmony N Home jumps well (which he only does on occasion), he’ll be able to sit outside E Brother or put pressure on him mid-race.
(6) Lyrical Motion has been working home well in his recent races and would be the danger in the race if they go too hard too early. That said, it’s unlikely there’ll be enough speed on here for Lyrical Motion so keep an eye on him for future races.
(4) E Brother Win

Race 6
(4) Allgreektome last chance for this horse to produce something here. I’m letting him off for his loss to Prime Mortar last start on the basis that he returned from almost 3 months off racing and may have been slightly underdone going into that race. If that was the case, he has to primed for tonight and should have no excuses if he finds one to beat him again.
(5) Happy Soul looked far better to the eye than Allgreektome did when winning his last start but the clock didn’t approve of that win. Allgreektome ran ridiculously faster time losing so I’ve leant his way here. Happy Soul 2nd best chance here though.
(7) Jiangxi Stamina goes in for minors as he has the ability to run the odd pearler and is an absolutely enormous price in this event. Could do worse than have a tickle e/w.
