Happy Valley hosts Hong Kong’s Holy Thursday meeting tonight which is a relatively intriguing card sure to produce plenty of excitement throughout the night as usual. Not too many short-priced runners which stood out here but a few are mentioned below. Good luck!
Below, Blake Lalor brings you his best racing tips for Thursday night at Happy Valley!
Happy Valley Racing Tips – Thursday, April 6th
Race 1
(3) Lucky Missile was closing on the line over 1800m last time behind Cable Speed. He’s capable of finishing a lot closer over 2200m this time and although he’s barely raced over this trip, his best rating was over this distance. Drawn well and is over the odds.
(8) Fortune Triple is the main danger of winning here with Silvestre De Sousa aboard. He’s a 2200m specialist and will see out the trip no worries tonight. Big threat.
(6) Cable Speed beat Lucky Missile last time but settled closer and had more in his favour. The tables are slightly turned this time but Cable Speed still has a case to win here.
(3) Lucky Missile - Each Way
$13/$3.50 (1 Unit)
Race 3
(1) Ready Player One looks a deserving favourite in this event 2nd up with Zac Purton climbing aboard. He was sound when resuming for new trainer Jamie Richards last time but should find significant improvement tonight. He’s the highest rated in this race and capable of racing well in class 3 so should find class 4 winnable.
(3) Gang Of Brothers won off the canvas last time after picking himself up in the straight for a tough victory. He’s drawn well again this time and should be able to produce a similar effort with luck.
(8) V Chevaliers rounds out a competitive top 3 here having run 3rd in his last two races. Gate 3 will suit the horse and Silvestre De Sousa should be saving the horse for a big finish in the straight.
(1) Ready Player One - Win
$3.30 (2 Units)
Race 5
(5) Zone D will be hard to beat in this event based on his performance last start from gate 12 where he darted to the rail and hunted up the inside to only just miss under Antoine Hamelin. Zac Purton has seemingly ended his association with Packing Succeeder to partner Zone D here which is a great sign for this favourite.
(10) Packing Succeeder will be out to show Zac Purton why he should’ve stuck with this horse as he looks to grab his 2nd career win in only 5 career races. He’s up in class here but down in weight significantly so is not out of this by any stretch.
(7) Star Contact is in electric form at the moment and can’t run a bad race. From gate 9 tonight under Karis Teetan he looks to have a few things against him but that hasn’t stopped him from finishing in the top 3 in any of his last 5 starts so no reason he can’t repeat again.
(5) Zone D - Win
$2.80 (2 Units)
