Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday September 14th 2024

September 13th 2024, 1:06pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Flemington Racing Tips

Flemington hosts an excellent program on Saturday with the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes being the highlight. On a day which is forecast 13 with rain, the first race of the day comes up at 12:10pm (AEST). At the time of typing the track is rated a Good 4 but there is a chance come the last race. The Makybe Diva stakes will be run over the mile and is Race 8 on the program.

Check out Brendan Bunworth’s best bets for Flemington below and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips this Saturday!

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, September 14th 2024

Race 5: Lexus Archer Stakes - 2:30pm (AEST)

(8) Point King won very well when coming over from barrier 11 at The Valley over the 2040m last time and it does look like he will get the 2500m. Jamie Kah was on that day and she sticks with him here and from a better barrier in 4 and racing a preferred “second up” he should be in the finish. He has won in Group company before and he has won 3 times on Good tracks.

(7) Dashing Duchess should get a good run from barrier 1 and she has won twice before over the 2500m. Craig Williams rides for the first time and you would think the mare would settle 3rd behind the leader.

(6) Berkshire Breeze is probably the best horse in the race but he isn’t as fit as the above. He has bigger fish to fry in a few weeks but can place here. The distance is no issue and either is a Soft track if we get rain on race morning. He was a beaten fav last time but the five-year-old grey is the likely favourite again.

(8) Point King E/W

$4/$1.70 (1U/2U)

Race 8: Crown Makybe Diva Stakes GROUP 1 - 4:20pm (AEST)

(8) Via Sistina has won 7 from 16 starts and is the one to beat! She was a fair way back in the run in the Group 1 Winx Stakes at Randwick but still got the money and with pace on here, she will get back again. She has won 5 from 9 on Good tracks and the distance is no issue. She comes to Flemington for the first time but it looks as though the long straight will suit. JMAC is on and she has never missed a top 2 finish when being second up and a Cox Place start is on the cards.

(4) Antino is a big chance if there is no rain on race morning (doubtful) He missed the start in the Memsie (as he can do) but ran on well for 4th. The $3.20 on offer for the Place looks ok for the Tony Gollan trained five-year-old.

(1) Mr. Brightside has won 10 races over the mile and is fitter now being 3rd up. He looked the winner for a few strides there in the Memsie (2nd) but race fitness proved the difference in the end. Williams remains on and he will get a head start on a few of his rivals as they head around the home bend.

(2) Pinstrped comes into calculations again if the track is really wet I reckon. Group 1 winner now and confidence is high.

(8) Via Sistina

$2.40 (3 Units)

Race 10: Ronald McDonald House Charities Trophy - 5:25pm (AEST)

(12) Green Fly is a good each-way value if the track gets downgraded to Soft later in the day. He goes well on Soft and Heavy tracks and I think he is suited by a predicted solid tempo in this race. Keats should lead and set a good pace and the Fly will be Flying down the outside late. He did just that at The Valley last start for a 2nd. The home straight was just too small. Previous to that he was 5th at Flemington but only beaten 1L after running on. Jye McNeil has placed on him before and Each-Way is the way to go.

(11) Positivity almost won the Heatherlie Stakes at Caulfield (2nd) and may start fav in this. Does have barrier 11 so there is a risk he may get caught wide but Damien Lane is 1 from 1 on top.

(6) Berkeley Square has won second up before and he did make up late ground when first up at Caulfield, 8th but beaten just 3L. He probably needs more ground but can run on into a place which the predicted speed map.

(12) Green Fly E/W

$7.60/$2.60 (1U/2U)
