FlyQuest vs Cloud9
LCS 2023 Spring
Last week was quite a mess for the LCS, ending in plenty of unexpected results, which included FlyQuest losing their series against Team Liquid. Even though I can’t say that Team Liquid lack talented players, their performances so far this season didn’t suggest that they’ll stand a chance against FlyQuest, who were 11-2 ahead of last week’s upset loss.
Now the question is how much weight we can put on that result and whether FlyQuest’s loss against Team Liquid means anything. I wouldn’t overreact to it, and I can still confidently say that Liquid are an inferior team to FlyQuest. But when it comes to comparing FlyQuest to Cloud9, things are a bit different.
I considered Cloud9 as the stronger team even before the last week’s shenanigans, and I haven’t changed my mind heading into this week. Even though FlyQuest looked unstoppable over the last five weeks, Cloud9 have been ramping up and now look like the best team in the league.
And yet, Cloud9 are priced as 2.00 underdog for this match, which doesn’t sit right with me. We can’t hide that Cloud9 lost against FlyQuest the last time these two teams met, but it happened way back in the second week of the split when Cloud9 were still a bit shaky
Now, Cloud9 look like an entirely different beast, which mainly has to do with their new mid laner EMENES playing like a proper star.
At best, we should be getting even odds on this match, so I don’t have to think twice before putting my money on Cloud9.

TSM vs 100 Thieves
LCS 2023 Spring
100 Thieves picked up a massive victory against Golden Guardians on Thursday, but much like Team Liquid’s upset against FlyQuest, their success has to be put under question – is this a sign of improvement, or was it merely a fluke?
In the second round of LCS 2023 Spring Week 7, 100 Thieves added another victory against Dignitas, which is hardly impressive, so I can’t take much from that game. TSM are tied with 100 Thieves at 7-8 and are 2-2 from their last four games.
Over those four series, TSM lost against Evil Geniuses and Golden Guardians but have won against Immortals and Team Liquid. Those are not the best results, but they are not bad either, proving that TSM is a stable mid-tier team that can perform.
Bookmakers have TSM priced as 2.37 underdogs against 100 Thieves, which doesn’t surprise me, but I wouldn’t rank 100T so highly. They’ve shown some improvement, but 100 Thieves are still at the same level as TSM.
This match is as close to a coin toss as it can get, so I’ll recommend a bet on TSM at 2.37.

Counter Logic Gaming vs Golden Guardians
LCS 2023 Spring
Golden Guardians have looked very good ever since they found traction in the third week of the split, but then they slipped twice over the last two weeks, once against Team Liquid and once against 100 Thieves. I didn’t expect GG to lose against 100T, but it seemed more of a fluke win than anything else.
And even though it may sound like I’m trying to defend Golden Guardians, their level of play throughout the season was high, and I have no issues saying they’re a top four team in the league. Counter Logic Gaming have also been enjoying a solid season.
Relative to the expectations, CLG are playing exceptionally well and are 7-8 ahead of the final week of the split, which is admirable. However, they lost against Dignitas last week, which is a bit concerning.
CLG and GG both had bad games last week, but I wouldn’t overreact to one bad game and instead focus on what the teams have shown this season. From that perspective, Golden Guardians are clear favourites, which is also shown in the offered betting odds.
Priced at just 1.57, Golden Guardians are clear favourites to win, which sounds fair, but I don’t like the odds. So instead, I’m looking at over 24.5 kills at 1.83.
Golden Guardians are known as a team that likes to fight, and CLG are often involved in bloody games, which is a perfect recipe for this match to feature at least 25 kills.
