Round 13 of the 2019 AFL Premiership Season commences on Thursday with the Adelaide Crows hosting the Richmond Tigers at Adelaide Oval from 7:50pm (AEST). Round 13 is once again a bye round, meaning this match will be the first of just six for the weekend.
The Crows were one of the best performing teams in Round 12 on their way to an impressive win at home against the Giants. They trailed by a couple of points heading into the final quarter but were good enough turn the tide and come away with the four points. It was yet another big game from the Crouch brothers with Matt and Brad both racking up 30+ touches, while Josh Jenkins returned to form with three majors.
If the Crows were on of the best performing teams in Round 12, then the Tigers were certainly one of the worst. They came up against the ladder-leading Cats and were able to get out to a two goal to none start in the first quarter, although that was just about as good as it got for the Tigers who conceded 16 of the next 19 goals to go down by over 60 points. It’s fair to say there weren’t too many good Tigers players on the night, but one shining light was the play of first gamer Patrick Naish, who chimed in with 20 touches and a goal.

Check out some of our best fantasy tips for the Thursday night clash between the Crows and Tigers from Adelaide Oval below!
Must Have – Brad Crouch ($15,380)
We mentioned above that Brad Crouch was good in his side’s win over the Giants last week. However, what we didn’t mention is that he’s that doing that just about every week now. Plagued by injuries in the past, Crouch has finally been able to string some matches together and show just how good he can be. He did start the season off slow with three sub-100 fantasy scores, however, since then he’s piled on nine 100+ scores in a row, including a couple in the 130 region. This week he comes up against the Tigers who have given up the third most points to opposition midfielders this season, which gives us great confidence to recommend getting him in your team.
Stay Away – Rory Laird ($13,470)
Labelling Rory Laird a ‘dud’ doesn’t really sit well with me because it’s simply not true, although we do feel he’s in for one of his quieter games on Thursday night in terms of fantasy scoring. He and his fellow Crows defenders come up against a Richmond outfit that has given up the least amount of points to backs over the past five games. Once a team that leaked fantasy points to backs, the Tigers have transformed how they play and really tightened the screws in that area. We expect Laird to have to work a lot harder for his touches here and would recommend spending your salary elsewhere.
Point of difference – Ivan Soldo ($9,590)
We now look at a player that may have low ownership and could prove to be a stud in your line-up. Not yet a household name, big Ivan Soldo has taken over the number one ruck job at Richmond. And while he hasn’t exactly been setting the house on fire, Soldo is still really cheap and will always rack up a solid amount of fantasy points due to the 25+ hit-outs he gets week in, week out. He also has a really nice match-up against the Crows rucks, who have been leaking points of late, which we believe makes him a really good pick on Thursday night.
That wraps up Thursday night’s preview – it’s time to head to the Lobby and lock in your lineups.
Good luck!
