Spring racing continues at Eagle Farm on Saturday and Shannon Buckley has a couple of great selections coming our way, including a very rare 5-unit play in Race 2!
The rail is out 2m the entirety after being in the true position two weeks ago. Our selections are based on a Good track, but as always, watch and monitor for any pattern if possible.

Race 2 Spring Carnival On Sale Now BM78 2412m at 12:33pm AEST
(2) CHERNAK – best bet of the day! I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts odds on come jump time either. He came from well back two starts ago over 2200m to beat CHAYSE’N ARTIE and co (he’d just beaten TONY BE who has since won) before staying at 2200m LS and beating TOP BOY (ties in with GALIFIANAKIS) and COUP DE TONNERE (also here) easily. The further they went, the further he got away from them. Only goes up 1kg after such a dominant win, draws gate 2, and has senior rider Du Plessis stick for the Waller stable. He likes Eagle Farm and will relish the extra furlong to my eye. Very hard to beat
(4) OSTERMEIER – 6YO who is third up today and flew home last start after missing the kick. looks ready for this rise in trip and could surprise here at big odds. Goes well.

Race 5 Eureka Stud BM85 1810m at 2:23pm AEST
(2) WAIRERE FALLS – I’m convinced he’s going better than the race book suggests and is a great e/w play today. He’s been up for a while now, but his runs have been well spaced. He ran nicely three back to just miss STUCK WITH YOU over 2020m (big gaps to fourth) before heading to this track/trip and sitting OSL the entirety yet kept kicking after looking gone on the corner to go down half a length (SHOPPING ESPRIT has since won / ties in with AQUA ALTA). He jumped to the front in a small field LS and was snagged back to last (why!?). They subsequently crawled in front giving him an impossible task. He’s gone super to get as close as he did to NIKAU SPUR who was a very impressive winner again last week (ties in with FIFTH POSITION). Comes back to 1810m which is a query, but finally gets a senior rider up and draws a nice gate for a charmed run behind the speed. He can win.
(8) AQUA ALTA – Early market support for this 6YO mare. Continues to race well and will be around the mark again. Nice booking of M. DU PLESSIS too here. Goes well at each way price.
(2) Wairere Falls E/W
$7.00/$2.40 (1 unit E/W)
Race 8 Peachester Lodge Hcp Class 6 1000m at4:12pm AEST
(1) OSAMU – trialled up under a strong hold in preparation for this and it looks one of the easier set ups he’s faced in quite some time. Draws a nice gate for the Gollan camp and gets in with 57kgs after the claim from handy apprentice Cejay Graham. I think he’ll roll forward and be the likely leader with not a huge amount of pressure on paper. He profiles well first-up, enjoys Eagle Farm, and goes best on top of the ground which he’ll get today. He was only beaten a length by THE BOPPER first-up last time in (what price would he be here?) after leading them up. If he gets an OK time in front, he’ll be hard to run down.
(2) HARD TO SAY – Early favourite with some support. Looking to make it three on the trot this prep. Will only be fitter and is worth thought again here. Goes well.
