Cranbourne Racing Tips: Wednesday September 28th

Race 4

(2) Crux finished fourth on debut at Sale but arguably should have finished closer. For the in-form trainer Peter Moody and Luke Nolen this son of Pivotal/Shalwa has trialed quite well when not really being let down and this looks a nice race for him to pick up his maiden victory. He steps up to the mile which looks to be no issue and it will be good to see if this horse can back up the hype around him because the stable is looking to win a better race with him over the Spring Carnival.

(4) Vancouver Bay is fit now after two good races to start his career. He has settled back his last couple and the stable may want him to be a bit closer in the run today behind Crux.

(6) Hallowed Ruby rises 200min distance to the mile and that should assist.

(9) Nouveau Marche was okay on debut when eight beaten four lengths and is one that will be running on again.

(2) Crux

$1.75 (4 Units)

Race 5

(5) Miss Moonshine just might be a bit fitter than some of her rivals after four runs back from a spell. All of those efforts she has settled on-pace and held her own, winning her maiden quite easily.  With this race being slightly down in class from her last start she gets her chance here to win again for Colin Alderson. Her win was on a Soft7 so a little more rain on the day won't hurt her chances.

(7) American Actress does settle back in her races but gets the blinkers on which may assist. She is lightly raced but gets her chance third up.

(2) Mountain Range hasn't won in almost 10 months but is racing well. At Geelong on the Heavy last time, he got to the line well and that race might have him ready for this.

(1) Whirly Jig for Kevin Keys and Craig Newitt was racing in harder races than this in her last campaign and comes into this after a nice trial at Cranbourne on the Heavy.

(5) Miss Moonshine

$4.20 (1 Unit)

Race 6

(9) Semper Fortis should be nice odds and he did run some nice races last campaign. From barrier two he gets a chance to lead all of the way similar to the way he did at Moonee Valley back in March and I suspect another Valley win this campaign will be a goal. He is first up after two fair trials and the Soft ground shouldn't worry him.

(1) Gulf of Saros has 61 kilograms and barrier 10 so will have to do a lot right for Jordan Childs. He is another who will start well and push forward.

(4) Bubbly Lass won well at Sale after settling midfield and that will be the plan in this race considering there are a few that go forward here.

(11) Challone Princess didn't have much luck at Sale when fourth and is a genuine place chance. She is one of the fitter horses in the race and will make her run with Bubbly Lass.

(9) Semper Fortis E/W

$9.00/$2.40 (1 Unit)

Race 8

(11) Shipstern for Leon & Troy Corstenswon on debut at Warrnambool before running sixth at Flemington last time. He goes down in class here and gets another chance for a W with Craig Williams on top. He goes up in distance again to 1200m but that shouldn't worry him, and he has covered ground in his race and still been strong to the line. That win was on a Soft6 so he will want the track to remain the same.

(10) Tuahine has a wide barrier and will be ridden patiently for one last crack at them.

(1) Marimenko is resuming but has had three jumpouts in readiness for this and a top three finish wont surprise. There were some handy types in one of those trials and he held his own.

(4) No Quarantine is another who is fresh up and if Greg Eurell has him fit, he can run a drum. His Pakenham win last prep was impressive.

(11) Shipstern

$4.00 (2 Units)
