Cranbourne Racing Tips: Friday October 7th
Race 2
(8) Flame of Venice can break her maiden here after placing four in eight attempts. She has only raced once in six months but her return third at Moe on the Soft ground was good enough to suggest she should go well here. She was supported in betting and ran home fairly so she should improve even further after that.
(10) Rocket Boy started odds on two starts back but failed at Geelong when fifth but the Hayes stable still thought highly of him and took him to Flemington the next start where he was again just fair when fifth, albeit against some quality individuals. Down in class here.
(11) Blazing Burj goes up in distance and does swoop home. I'm a bit worried that Cranbourne can be leader biased at times with this one.
(12) Grey Northern is one of the fittest horses in the race.
(8) Flame of Venice WIN
$4.20 (1 Unit)
Race 4
(4) Port Albert has barrier 16 to contend with but will come over to the front two or three for jockey Blake Shinn. He ran third behind Winnerstakeall last start and he is a quality horse, so he is down in class for this race. In his first prep he ran second on his second race back from a spell and I think he might pick up a better race than this over the Spring.
(2) Full Blown was good on debt when beaten less than a length behind Wee Nessy and we can forget his last start when he was attended to by the vet post-race. A big watch on this one at good odds.
(5) The Extreme Cat is a Maher & Eustace first starter who has to be respected. He has trialed at Cranbourne three times so already knows this place well.
(12) Tropicconi is a Matt Laurie first starter out of Nicconi and if he is backed in late a win wouldn't surprise.
(4) Port Albert WIN
$2.30 (3 Units)
Race 5
(5) Sociabeel can lead this, stick on well and win now that she is 100 percent fit after four runs this time in. She ran well after leading at Geelong last time and just got nutted on the line for third but she's tougher now. Before that it was another close placing (2nd) when she was beaten a nose at Sale on a Soft 5. Should run well.
(10) Is Sweet will appreciate the rise in distance after running on well for fourth at Pakenham last start.
(11) Parvati Party was good at Coleraine when second to Tafika on Soft ground and conditions suit.
(2) Holy Spirit should put in a forward showing fourth up from a spell but don't want any rain on Friday (predicted 5mls).
(5) Sociabeel WIN
$2.70 (2 Units)
Race 6
(6) Thought Provoking should come straight over from barrier eight for Jordan Childs and settle in the top couple. There isn't a huge amount of pace in this, so she gets a chance to stick on well to the line. She is one from one on the Soft and did run fourth behind Cardinal Gem at Flemington on a Heavy on September 18 so can handle that too. She is very fit now after trialing against Persan and Gunstock two weeks ago.
(1) Agnelli was poor on a Heavy 10 in the same race as Thought Provoking last time. If it doesn't rain, he comes into play in this however as he is better than most of these.
(2) Deel Blaster is fit and can handle the wet tracks. He has won three times in his last 10 starts and is a definite top three chance.
(3) Mister Me is having his third start for the Simon Wilde team and should lead with our top selection and they may both try and ensure a slow tempo early. Yendall stays on and knows the horse well.
(6) Thought Provoking WIN
$3.60 (2 Units)
