AFLW Round 4 Betting Tips
North Melbourne vs Geelong
Friday 5:10pm AEST, UTAS Stadium
Round 7 kicks off in Launceston with North Melbourne looking to avoid a 1-3 start to the season when they take on Geelong in a must win game. The Cats are coming off their first loss of the season, in a heartbreaking four point defeat to Collingwood. The Kangaroos went down by fourteen points to Adelaide, putting themselves in a tough position early in the season.
The Roos struggled to get their attacking game going against Geelong in Round One last season, and the Kangaroos will need to turn around their front half struggles, which has seen them kick just six goals across their last two games.
Geelong’s defence has been remarkable this season, conceding just three goals across their three games this season. The Cats have been outstanding at keeping games into low scoring, tight encounters, with 10 of their last thirteen games being decided by under 15 points. The +10.5 line for Geelong is great value in what will be a high pressure game.

Collingwood vs Adelaide
Sunday 12:10pm AEST, Victoria Park
It’s a top eight clash to kick off Sunday afternoon football with Adelaide heading to Victoria Park to take Magpies. Collingwood have had a perfect start to the season with three wins from three games, but get their biggest test against the reigning premiers. Adelaide were excellent last week, holding North Melbourne to just two goals in a 14 point victory.
Collingwood were strangled by Geelong’s defence last week, and they’re going to have a tough task trying to penetrate an Adelaide defence that has been one of the best in the competition for years. If Adelaide can win the midfield battle with the likes of Ebony Marinoff and Anne Hatchard, they’ll be able to create a territory game that Collingwood can’t win.
Adelaide have won three of the four meetings between the two sides across the history of the AFLW, and have won eight of their last nine matches overall. Adelaide have become accustomed to big games across the history of the competition, and they know how to handle it better than anyone else. This will be an epic contest, but the Crows will prevail.

Melbourne vs Brisbane
Sunday 4:10pm AEST, Casey Fields
The two best teams in the competition face off to conclude Round 4, in what looks like a potential Grand Final preview. Brisbane have been utterly dominant this season, with wins by margins of 49, 47 and 73 points across the opening three rounds of the season. Melbourne also have an unblemished 3-0 record, but haven’t been as convincing as many would have expected them to be.
The Demons put on a six goal to none blitz in the opening quarter against St Kilda last week, but failed to kick a goal after quarter time in what turned out to be a frustrating performance. Melbourne have put together some quality performances in all three games so far this season, but haven’t been able to translate that into big scores.
The separating factor in this clash is the level the Lions can get to at the attacking end of the ground. Brisbane have scored 225 points across their opening three games this season, 57 more than the next best in the league. Despite the game being played at Casey Fields, if the Lions can take advantage when they’re kicking with the wind, they’ll continue with their ability to kick massive scores.
Brisbane -3.5

More AFLW Round 4 Tips
GWS vs West Coast - Giants Stadium, Saturday 11:10am AEST
West Coast were obliterated by expansion side Essendon last week, while the Giants hammered Sydney. Another similar fate looks likely for a West Coast side that has been consistently on the end of big losses across their existence in the competition. GWS are 2-0 against the Eagles with an average winning margin of 29 points, and will continue their unblemished record against West Coast.

Gold Coast vs St Kilda - Great Barrier Reef Arena, Saturday 12:05pm AEST
St Kilda heads up north with a 2-1 record, taking on a Gold Coast side coming off a 73 point hammering in the Q Clash. St Kilda have shown vast improvement this season, holding Melbourne goalless after quarter time last week, while the Suns look like they’ve gone backwards in 2022, with two convincing losses from their opening three games.
Tip: St Kilda -8.5, $1.90 with Ladbrokes
Port Adelaide vs Sydney - Alberton Oval, Saturday 1:10pm AEST
Two expansion sides meet in Adelaide on Saturday afternoon, with the Power coming off an epic draw against Carlton. Sydney have had a tough start to their existence in the AFLW with losses by 29, 31 and 47 points in their first three games. The Swans are set for another tough afternoon against a side with established AFLW talent that will take care of business.
Tip: Port Adelaide -32.5, $1.90 with Ladbrokes
Fremantle vs Carlton - Fremantle Oval, Saturday 2:05pm AEST
This game is set to be a cracking encounter, with Fremantle desperate to pick up their first win of the season after an embarrassing start to Season 7. Carlton have had a nail biting fortnight with a one point win against Essendon followed up by a draw against the Power. Carlton are match hardened and are well prepared to cause an upset against the struggling Dockers.
Tip: Carlton, $2 with Ladbrokes
Hawthorn vs Western Bulldogs - Box Hill City Oval, Saturday 3:10pm AEST
The Hawks are another expansion side that are struggling with 26, 53 and 35 point defeats in their opening three games. The Bulldogs on the other hand are flying with a 3-0 start to Season 7, and will be looking to make it four wins from four. The Dogs have continued to churn out results, and will be too good for Hawthorn in this matchup.
Tip: Western Bulldogs -37.5, $1.90 with Ladbrokes
Essendon vs Richmond - North Port Oval, Sunday 2:10pm AEST
The first ever AFLW Dreamtime clash will take place in Port Melbourne on Sunday, with Essendon looking to move to 3-1 and consolidate their spot in the top eight. Richmond finally got on the board in Season 7 with a dominant win over Hawthorn, and will be looking to take it to an Essendon side that hasn’t faced much high quality opposition this season. Richmond’s experience will be too much in this encounter, and the Bombers don’t have someone to contain Monique Conti.
Tip: Richmond +9.5, $1.90 with Ladbrokes
