AFL Round 4 Preview & Betting Tips
Adelaide vs Fremantle
Saturday 1:45pm AEST, April 8th, Adelaide Oval
Both Adelaide and Fremantle should be full of confidence on the back of wins in their local derbies in Round 3.
With the game in the balance at the final change against the Power, the Crows were dominant in a one-sided final quarter, scoring seven goals to run out 117-86 winners with young guns Riley Thilthorpe (5 goals) and Izak Rankine (4 goals) flexing their muscles.
It was a similar story for the Dockers in their clash against the Eagles. They led by only eight at third-quarter time before outscoring their WA rivals 40-7 in the final term to complete a 108-67 win. Caleb Serong handed in his best performance of the season with his 35 disposals complimenting livewire forward Michael Walters’ four goals.
The Dockers have won their last three matches against the Crows in what were fairly tight tussles, and the bookies expect it to be another close one, with Adelaide -4.5 favourites.
Whilst the Crows have been playing some free-flowing footy this season, they face a stiffer challenge here against the stout Dockers defence who are allowing just under 70 points a game this season.
With that said, the current total is 160.5 which I believe is too low. In each of the Crows last six games, the match total has gone over, and I think it does again here. Just this season, the Crows are putting up 100 points a game, as their exciting talent begin to put it altogether.
The Dockers proved to be quite the powerhouse on the road last season whilst Adelaide’s recent form at home isn’t flash.
Even though the Crows are and up-and-coming side who could sneak into the eight this season, the Dockers have runs on the board dating back to last season and at this stage, are the better side of the two. I'm with them to cover the line.

James Aish 20 + Disposals – Having a great start to the year, racking up 26 touches a game so the 20 looks well within his reach.
Luke Ryan 25+ Disposals – The defender is going from strength to strength each season and is so important for the Dockers down back. He gets plenty of the footy and I expect that to continue here.
Ben Keays 20+ Disposals – remains good value to reach this figure. He was racking up big numbers in his sleep at times last season.
