AFL Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs Adelaide
Saturday 2:10pm AEST, May 20th, Mars Stadium
With both teams ahead of the ledger coming into Round 10, the Saturday afternoon clash between the Western Bulldogs and the Adelaide Crows looms as a ripper. Just like they did last season, these clubs will face off at Mars Stadium in Ballarat in what will certainly be long sleeves type weather.
The Western Bulldogs were a bit of an unknown coming into this season but it’s been so far so good for the red, white, and blue. After getting off to a disappointing 0-2 start, the Dogs have found some scintillating form that’s seen them win six of their last seven games. Admittedly, the fixture has been kind to them over the past month, but you can only beat who’s put in front of you!
One of the great improvements for the Bulldogs from a season ago has been the stinginess of their defence. They were ranked as one of the worst teams in the competition at defending inside 50’s in 2022, but are ranking in the top four so far this campaign.
Adelaide were also one of a few teams that were hard to get a read on coming into the season, but whatever expectations people had have surely been exceeded. They too dropped their opening two games but quickly hit their straps to win five of their last seven games.
The decision to make Jordan Dawson captain and move him into the middle of the ground has been one of the big turning points, as his disposal by foot is one of the best in the business and is helping turn inside 50’s into scores a lot more frequently.
These clubs met at Mars Stadium at similar time during last season and it turned out to be a cracking contest which the Crows won by one point. There were an abundance of lead changes during that match and I’m forecasting something similar this weekend considering how evenly matches these clubs seem to be right now. With that said, taking Any Other Results in the Wire-to-Wire market looms as great value.

Jordan Dawson 25+ Disposals – Since moving into the midfield this season, he’s been the Crows best player and it’s not close. Averaging 29 disposals over the past six games, the Crows look to get the ball into this man's hands at every opportunity.
Brodie Smith 20+ Disposals – Adelaide has moved the ball out of defence well this season and a lot of that has been due to Smith’s run and carry. Averaging a tick over 23 disposals in the past six games, I can see him hitting this 20+ disposal mark easily.
Luke Pedlar 2+ goals – With the big Texan being out of the Crows forward line this week, I see an increased opportunity for the young 21-year-old spearhead. Pedlar has kicked multiple goals in the past three weeks and I can see this trend continuing on Saturday.
