Port Adelaide and Melbourne kick off Sir Doug Nicholls Round with a mouth-watering clash on Friday night. Sir Doug Nicholls Round will be celebrated over Round 10 and 11 of the AFL season and allows the AFL industry the opportunity to thank Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players, workers and fans for their contributions to the game.
As such, both Port Adelaide and Melbourne will swap their team names to their traditional in-language names of Yartapuulti and Narrm for this round.

Yartapuulti vs Narrm
Adelaide Oval, Friday 7:50pm AEST
Yartapuulti now find themselves inside the top four on the AFL ladder after a strong run of form including recent wins over Essendon, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs. They have proven they are a step above those teams, and now, this a massive test for their season 2023 credentials against the one of the premiership favourites.
Young guns Zac Butters and Connor Rozee have led the way in the middle of the ground, alongwith recruit Jason Horne-Francis, as veterans Travis Boak and Ollie Wines have been shifted into support roles. While they have struggled in the ruck with Scott Lycett dropped and Brynn Teakle battling hard to compete, the form of tall forwards Jeremy Finlayson and Charlie Dixon has been pleasing as they roam up the field as the backup ruck option, and then look dangerous when they push forward. Dixon has been nursing a jarred knee, so the Power will be desperate for him to return to the lineup for this match.
For Narrm, they are progressing well this season and look set for a big second-half to year. They’ve navigated through a difficult period with skipper Max Gawn on the sidelines, but with him back and firing, and midfield guns Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver going strong, the Demons have the best midfield combination in the game.
After being challenged by Gold Coast two weeks ago, the Dees are well tuned for this contest after a comfortable win over the Hawks last week.
Tom Sparrow will be on the sidelines through suspension so look for Kysaiah Pickett to spend more time running through the middle. Harrison Petty has also been ruled out with a foot injury with Tom McDonald or Ben Brown likely to get a call up. Christian Petracca has recovered from a rolled ankle last match, while Christian Salem is also on the comeback from a knee injury but may have to work his way back into the side via the VFL.
A midfield clash between bulls Christian Petracca and Jason Horne-Francis is worth the price of admission alone.
This is going to be a fantastic match. I think the Power’s dynamic mids can match the Dees but the big challenge will be in the ruck. How can they stop Gawn and Grundy? They will need Dixon to be fit and play some big minutes in the middle to throw his weight around and negate their influence, otherwise Gawn is going to manhandle Teakle and give their mids first use. Once it hits the ground though, the Power are right in this. And the home ground advantage should be significant. The Power fans are going to be going bonkers in this match and if they smell blood, it might be tough for the Dees to overcome.

Max Gawn 1+ Goals – Big Max is going to be a handful for the Power. While someone like Dixon might be able to negate him in the middle, they are going to be exposed when Maxy pushes forward. It's been close to a 50/50 split in the ruck with Grundy in recent weeks, and Gawn is very effective up forward with 6 goals in the 5 completed matches he's played this season.
Zac Butters 25+ Disposals – After a slow start to the season, Butters has been in great form recently and has hit this line in his last six matches. The Dees aren't the most restrictive midfield, so expect Butters to win plenty of ball.
Clayton Oliver 30+ Disposals – Oliver has been a machine this season, and there's no reason to think he won't rack up touches here. Willem Drew may play some close attention to Oliver and/or Petracca but that shouldn't really be an issue. Oliver has hit this mark in 7/9 matches this season.
