Sydney vs Brisbane Betting Tips
SCG, Sunday 1st May, 4:40pm (AEST)
Sydney
Injuries: Robbie Fox (Hamstring), Tom Hickey (Knee), Lachlan McAndrew (Hamstring), Paddy McCartin (Concussion), Logan McDonald (Concussion), Sam Naismith (Knee), Angus Sheldrick (Knee)
Injuries to their tall timber is the issue for the Swans at the moment. They’re without their top two rucks in Tom Hickey and Sam Naismith due to knee injuries, as well as key defender Paddy McCartin and key forward Logan McDonald who are both battling concussions. On a positive note, Tom Papley returns this weekend from a hamstring injury.
The Swans looked to be in trouble last weekend when they trailed by nine points at three quarter time against the Hawks, but absolutely flicked the switch in the final term to outscore their opponents 56-6 and record a comfortable win. That win is already their third by at least five goals this season in what’s been a very bright start. The Swans are now 5-1 and sit in fourth spot on the ladder.
Brisbane
Injuries: Eric Hipwood (Knee), Kai Lohmann (Ankle), Mitch Robinson (Calf)
The Lions have very little to complain about in the injury department. Eric Hipwood is the big name currently forced to the sidelines as he continues to rehab a knee injury, while Kai Lohnmann and Mitch Robinson are the only other two players on the injury list.
The Lions proved to be far too strong for the Suns in the Q Clash last weekend, defeating them by 52 points on the road. The Lions have now had two games already where they’ve scored over 130 points which just highlights how potent they are up forward. Importantly, they’ve now strung back-to-back wins together since losing away to the Cats in Round 4. The Lions are now 5-1 and sit third on the ladder.
Match Prediction
Both teams have started the season really well and enter Round 7 with an identical 5-1 record after dominant wins last weekend. The venue is the key here in my opinion and is the reason why I’m happy to be with the Swans on this occasion. The Swans have defeated the Lions in each of their last five clashes at the SCG by an average margin of 46.6 points and although this one should be a lot closer than that, I still really like their chances.

Will Hayward has become a very reliable forward for the Swans and always proves to be a tough assignment for opposing teams. He’s already kicked multiple goals in three games this season and has had his way against the Lions in recent seasons, kicking 2+ in four of his last five games against them. I like his odds again here.
Will Hayward 2+ Goals ($3.15 Ladbrokes)
Errol Gulden is building some nice consistency with his week-to-week performances this season, particularly with the amount of disposals he’s accumulating. He’s had 20+ touches in four of his last five outings and should be able to get there again here.
Errol Gulden 20+ Disposals ($1.68 Ladbrokes)
Zac Bailey is putting together a brilliant 2022 campaign with averages of 17.7 disposals and 2.7 goals. He booted six majors last week and has now had at least two goals in four of his six matches. He remains good odds to do it again.
Zac Bailey 2+ Goals ($1.90 Ladbrokes)
