Melbourne vs Hawthorn Betting Tips
MCG, Saturday 30th April, 4.35pm (AEST)
Melbourne
Ins: Jack Viney, Jake Lever, Tom McDonald
Outs: Harrison Petty, Kysaiah Pickett, Luke Jackson, Tom Sparrow
What an embarrassment of riches they have down at Melbourne at the moment. A little wave of COVID rocked their squad throughout the last week, forcing Petty, Pickett, Jackson amd Sparrow into the health and safety protocol. Coming into the side is three premiership players in Jack Viney, Jake Lever and Tom McDonald.
The Demons train continued to roll in Round 6 as they defeated the Tigers by 22 points. The Tigers were compettive at times in the first half, but MElbourne blew them out of the water after the main break, kicking five goals to two in the 3rd quarter to run away with the game.
Their depth will be on full display this week as Viney, McDonald and Lever come back into the side. They look unbeatable at the moment and something shocking would have to happen for that to change on Saturday.
Hawthorn
Ins: Jackson Callow, Lachlan Bramble
Outs: Denver Grainger-Barras, Harry Morrison, Josh Ward
Youngster Jackson Callow will make his debut this week while Harry Morrison comes out of the side with injury. All in all though, the Hawks remain pretty much the same.
The Hawks best has looked great this season and their worst has looked awful. They play such an aggressive style of football that if it's not working on the night, they have shown that they can be completely exposed. They already have good wins over the Hawks, Power and Cats but have been smashed by the Saints and Swans by an average of 55 points.
Mitch Lewis has taken his game to the next level so far this season, booting 15 goals through six games so far but he is lacking help up fowrard, with Luke Breust and Jack Gunston slightly out of form at the moment.
Match Prediction
Tough to look past the Dees train to keep on rolling here. Until they put a foot wrong, I'll continue to back them. With the level that this Melbourne defence is playing at the moment combined with the Hawks propensity to be exposed on the counter attack, I think there is a chance that this gets ugly for Hawthorn.
I think a small bet on Melbourne to win this one by 40+ is the play here.

Prop Bets
In six of Melbourne's last seven matches at the MCG, the highest scoring quarter has been the third. They came out firing after the main break last week against the Tigers. I think the 3rd offers good odds at $3.20.
Highest Scoring QTR - 3rd ($3.30 at Ladbrokes)
I'm waiting with bated breath on Sam Weidemann to have that breakout game that confirms his spot in the Demons side. He has looked dangerous in in the four games he has played this season, kicking eight goals. He has already kicked the most goals in two of those games, so odds of $12 for him to do so on Saturday is appealing.
