Carlton vs GWS Preview & Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Sunday 24th July, 1:10pm AEST
Carlton Blues
Injuries: Jordan Boyd, Jack Carroll, David Cunningham, Ed Curnow, Will Hayes, Caleb Marchbank, Jack Martin, Oscar McDonald, Matt Owies, Luke Parks, Sam Philp, Zac Williams
Carlton have quite an extensive injury list at the moment, although most of the guys on the list are fringe players at best. Key outs for the Blues are Zac Williams and Jack Martin and both of them should return before the end of the home and away season.
The Blues weren’t up to the task against the Cats last weekend despite leading at quarter time after a promising start. They kicked just four goals after quarter time and ended up going down by 30 points in what was their fourth loss from their past seven outings. The Blues haven’t bagged back-to-back wins since May and will be desperate to find their best form in the remaining matches before finals.
GWS Giants
Injuries: Ryan Angwin, Jack Buckley, Finn Callaghan, Brent Daniels, Phil Davis, Matt De Boer, Josh Fahey, Bobby Hill, Connor Idun, Josh Kelly, Harry Perryman, Conor Stone
Injuries continue to pile up for the Giants, which has been a common theme for them in recent years. Phil Davis will miss the rest of the season with a bad hamstring, while Josh Kelly and Harry Perryman are both unavailable for selection this weekend.
The Giants were no match for the talented Lions last weekend when going down by seven goals on their home deck. They played slightly better than they did against the Power in their previous fixture, but it still wasn’t anything to write home about. The Giants made a big statement at the selection table this week in dropping one of their best players in Tom Green, so it’ll be interesting to see the response from the rest of the team this weekend.
Match Prediction
The Blues snapped a run of five straight losses against the Giants when they defeated them by 30 points in Sydney earlier this season. They outscored them 58-28 in the second half, led by a monster 30-dispoal and two-goal performance from Sam Walsh. Not much has changed for either side since then, and it’s still the Blues who are the far superior outfit. Now on their home deck and in need of a win to cement their spot in the top eight, I expect the Blues to dominate this fixture once again.

Prop Bets
Isaac Cumming has been one of the shining lights in a dull season for the Giants. He’s averaging 25 disposals a game and is the go-to man for kickouts at the club. I expect plenty of ball to be down his end of the ground on Sunday and can see him clearing 25+ touches.

Jake Riccardi had a quiet game last week but was in great form prior to that. He’s kicked multiple goals in three of his last four outings and remains strong value to do it once again on Sunday.
Jake Riccardi 2+ Goals, $2.55 with Ladbrokes
Zac Fisher has put together an excellent season of footy and is at the peak of his powers at the moment. He had 27 disposals and six marks against the Cats last weekend and is averaging 24 touches a game across his last four matches. I love him for 20+ against the Giants.
